  • School custodian arrested for guns on campus

    A tip that a Williston Elementary School custodian had guns in his vehicle parked on campus has let to the arrest of Dennis W. Solowski on Thursday, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.

    Sheriff's School Resource Deputy Grant Sandlin received information, located Solokowski's vehicle parked at the school and interviewed Solokowski at the school.

  • CR 347 re-opens at 6 p.m. Friday

    From the Levy County Sheriff's Office:

    The Levy County Road Department has announced that repairs to County Road 347 west of County Road 345 will be open today at 6 p.m. All repairs will be completed at this time and through traffic in both directions will be available to the motorists.

  • Inglis drug raid nets 12 arrests

    INGLIS — Twelve people are in custody Thursday after a two-and-one-half year investigation started by the Inglis Police Department that targeted a purported drug house.

  • Chiefland Citizen burgled

    The Chiefland Citizen office is closed this morning (May 4) due to a break-in at about 7 a.m.
    Deputies and investigators from the Levy County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Chiefland Police Department are looking into the matter.

  • Levy nukes to cost more, start later

    A legislator called for a stop to a utility’s cost recovery plan for its nuclear investments in Levy County and Crystal River.
    “Progress Energy wants to nearly double its collection of advance nuclear cost recovery dollars for two plants that are not even online,” said State. Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, on Monday. “Crystal River has been down since Progress Energy bungled its repair in 2009. Levy County is not even built and, according to the statement, the plant won’t be online for at least another dozen years at the earliest.”

  • Havoc on County Road 347

    CR 347 closure

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office and the Levy County Road Department has closed the 10600 block of County Road 347 due to 147 feet of cracks in the asphalt and a report of a sink hole possibly opening under the roadway. A passing motorist struck a crack which had opened across one lane. No injuries or damages were reported.
