  • New pick up and drop off system at CES

There are two ways for parents to enter the school this year:

       1. If you want to drop off or pick up a child at the front of the school then you will need to come in through the main entrance on 4th Avenue and follow the white arrows all the way around the parking lot to the front of the building. This will be just a large loop to help pull in cars off the road.

  • Big changes in Levy schools principal lineup

Nine of the district's 12 public schools will see a new principal or vice principal for the 2012-2013 school year. The district will also be without an assistant superintendent.

Assistant superintendent Gina Tovine has left the county to take a similar job in Orange County schools. Because of a stretched budget, the district doesn't plan to fill the position for the immediate future.

  • McLelland back at CHS

Chiefland High School graduate Matt McLelland is back at the school — this time as principal.

McLelland, who was assistant principal at the school last year, was before the end of the year transferred to Williston High School, where he was promoted to principal.

Last week, he accepted a job as principal at Trenton High School in Gilchrist County.

  • Levy schools get a ‘C’

High grades for two Levy County middle schools were the highlights of a mixed group of school grade results.
Levy County schools received a C rating as a whole from the Florida Department of Education for the 2011-2012 school year.
A more difficult set of academic standards, and the transition to meet these requirements, factored into this year's grade, said Superintendent Robert Hastings.
"This comes as no surprise given the nature of the changes," Hastings said, "We anticipated that this would happen. Overall we're very happy."

  • Pre-K, kindergarten enrolling now at CES

There are still openings in Chiefland Elementary School's Voluntary Pre-K program and the school is enrolling now for kindergarten.
Parents are being urged to skip the delay and stop in at the CES office to pick up information and enrollment packets.
Anyone who has not registered their child for kindergarten yet needs to come by and pick up our enrollment packet.
