State Sen. Charlie Dean (R-Inverness), who represents most of Levy County, greets 80 Chiefland Middle School students and their parents, teachers and chaparones for a one-day visit to the state Capitol on Feb. 22. The students toured the Capitol and watched the House and Senate in session.

   The Bronson FFA Alumni Organization's Annual Food Fest will be Friday, March 2, at First Baptist Church in Bronson, with entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. and food service at 5:30 p.m.
   There will also be a singing group from the local Cowboy Church, a cake auction, a silent auction and door prizes.
Tickets for the event may be purchased in advance for $10 or for $15 at the event. Proceeds go to the Bronson FFA Alumni Scholarship Program and to send local students to leadership conferences.

Chiefland High School officials pulled Shelby Beauchamp out of class at about 8:30 a.m. Friday to deliver the bad news: She was in trouble for something that had gone down in the school’s parking lot.
But Beauchamp didn’t buy it.
“He (Principal Bill Tovine) was telling a story I didn’t believe. He was like (in an authoritative voice), ‘Did you get a sticker for your parking permit?’ ” Beauchamp said, laughing.

The College of Central Florida Levy Center will begin a Refresher Course for Certified Nursing Assistants on Monday, March 19. This 16-hour program is intended for nonpracticing Certified Nursing Assistants who would like to re-enter the field and CNAs who have allowed their license to lapse and need to retake the state licensure exam.
            The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, March 19-28, 5:30-9:30 p.m. The course fee is $149 and no textbook is required.
