    Daybook

The Central Florida Community College Levy Center invites you to experience a “Journey Daybook Adventure” at Fanning Springs State Park on Friday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This class is for people who love to travel and want to create a visual memory of a journey that goes beyond the photograph or the video clip. It will also be of interest to anyone who wants to create a visual legacy. The practice of creating Journey Daybooks can increase powers of observation and heighten the ability to be in the moment.

  • Classrooms get $39,000 in grants from Foundation

The Levy County Schools Foundation (LCSF) awarded over $39,000 to classrooms and teachers for the 2008-2009 school year.

The funding for classroom grants comes from several different sources. The largest of these sources is the State Legislation Matching Fund Grant. This past year the State of Florida gave over $12,000 to the Levy County Foundation which in turn matched that contribution with corporate and private donations.

  • Bullying won’t be tolerated

Parents now have a new tool to safeguard their children against school bullies.

New bullying and harassment policy 5.38 was adopted by the Levy County School Board last week to conform to state requirements. The policy prohibits bullying and harassment and seeks to prevent an “intimidating, hostile or offensive educational environment.”

Students and adults from as far away as Cedar Key and Williston were in attendance for the event, where area FFA teams gathered to explore and grade for different land-sites on the farm.

The teams were looking for seven ‘key soil characteristics’ ranging from soil erosion and permeability to surface texture and rooting zones.
