  • Levy school, college money in final state budget bill

    Startup money for a new Williston Middle/High School and Levy Campus for the College of Central Florida has been included in the state budget for 2014-2015 that was approved by the state Legislature last week and is heading to the governor's office. 

  • Disability Expo May 10

    The Levy County Commission gave its endorsement to the Fanning Springs Disability Expo hosted by the The ARC of Levy County, Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association (FDOA) and the Department of Environmental Protection.

  • Department of Public Safety visits CES

    April is recognized as National 9-1-1 Education Month, and, with this in mind, the Levy County Department of Public Safety (LCDPS) approached the Chiefland Elementary School to present 9-1-1 information to children. LCDPS invited Chiefland Fire Rescue to join the team to deliver the information to students in grades 3 through 5. The two Departments were at the school for three hours April 2, teaching the children when to call 911 and what information they would be asked if they ever had to make that call. 

  • The check's in hand

    The check represents the county's share of proceeds from timber sales in Goethe State Forest.

    The Levy County School Board received a similar check from the timber sales overseen by state Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.

  • CES kids finish up 5 Points marathon

    Forty-five Chiefland Elementary School students met at the school's track Saturday morning to run the last 1.2 miles in completing a full marathon for the 5 Points of Life Kids Marathon.

       The students started in September, working every morning, as the weather permitted before the start of school, toward their goal of logging 25 miles.
