  • Host families needed now for international exchange students

    Foreign high school students are scheduled to arrive soon for academic semester and year homestay programs, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families. The students are anxiously awaiting news of their new families. These young ambassadors are looking forward to fulfilling their life-long dreams.

  • National school lunch and breakfast programs

    Household size and income criteria will be used to determine eligibility.  An application can not be approved unless it contains complete eligibility information. Once approved, meal benefits are good for an entire year. You need not notify the organization of changes in income and household size.

  • The Levy Country Soil Water Conservation District announces the winners of the 2011 poster contest

       The Levy County Soil and Water Conservation District is happy to announce the winners of the 2011 poster contest.  This year the theme was “Forest for People, More than You Can Imagine.”   
    n Kindergarten through 1st grade division:
    1st place Alexandria Epperson, 2nd Tristan Sloan, 3rd Levi Brinkman, all from Cedar Key School.
    n 2nd and 3rd grade division:
    1st place Katlynn Karwan, from Williston Elementary, 2nd Natalie Stewart, from Cedar Key Elementary, 3rd Amanda Robinson, also from Cedar Key Elementary.

  • CF Levy to offer computer courses for seniors

       The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer three computer courses designed just for seniors. These courses start with the basics and advance at a comfortable pace with the beginner in mind. The classes will meet on Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the CF Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd., Chiefland.

  • STUFF the BUS on Saturday

       Levy Schools Foundation's annual "STUFF the BUS" event will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Levy County school buses parked at three spots throughout the county. The locations will be at Walmart in Chiefland, Dollar General in Cedar Key and Walgreens in Williston. Walgreens in Chiefland and Williston, and Winn Dixie in Chiefland will be collecting school supplies for the entire month.

  • CF Levy Center Classes

     Spanish for health care workers course

     The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer Conversational Spanish for Health Care Workers Thursday, Aug. 25-Sept. 29, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The center is located at 114 Rodgers Blvd, Chiefland. The course fee is $119. The textbook with two audio CDs may be purchased at the first class; the cost is approximately $30.
