    School play Thursday-Saturday
    The Chiefland Middle School students will present their annual play with performances Thursday, May 10, through Saturday, May 12, at 7 nightly at the Chiefland High School Auditorium.
    Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for everyone else.

  • Chiefland Movie Night

    Chiefland Elementary School hosted a movie night Friday to celebrate the end of this year’s Florida Comprehensive Assessment Tests (FCAT).

    Families brought chairs, blankets and pillows to sit or relax on in the grassy oval of the track at the school.

    The film was shown on a giant screen held up by inflatable tubes.

  • George visits school to encourage the sciences

    When guest speaker Denny George visited with the students enrolled in Algebra I at Chiefland High School, they were able to learn first hand how their course work applies to the world of work.

  • HOSA on the move

    Chiefland High School students involved with HOSA traveled to Jacksonville recently to participate in the HOSA State Leadership Conference.

  • State D.O.E. rep comes to Levy County

    One month into his job, Rod Duckworth has been very busy.
    The new Florida D.O.E. Chancellor for the Division of Career and Adult Education visited Chiefland High School on April 17. It's part of a state-wide tour that also saw him visit Williston Middle School. Relocating from his native Arkansas, Duckworth and his team are looking to get a feel for his new state.

  • CNA course at CF Levy Center

    The College of Central Florida will offer a Certified Nursing Assistant course at the Levy Center beginning in May.
       This program prepares the individual for work as a nursing assistant in nursing homes and prepares students to take the Florida CNA exam. The course consists of classroom instruction as well as lab practice and clinical experience.

  • School board decides on calendar

    In its March 6 meeting, the Levy County School Board voted to pass one of the two proposed 2012-2013 school year calendars, 3-2. District 1-Bronson representative Cameron Asbell and District 3-Williston representative Robert Philpot both voted no on the calendar because no day off was allocated for the Suwanne River Fair Sale Day. Both Asbell and Philpot discussed the significance of the day to Levy County students and were concerned about absenteeism from students skipping school to attend the fair.

  • Jeff Davis named principal at Lecanto

    INVERNESS — Jeff Davis is headed back to school.
    Davis, the Citrus County School District's human resources director, will become Lecanto High School principal in July following Kelly Tyler's retirement.
    Superintendent of Schools Sandra "Sam" Himmel said Davis is a good fit to replace Tyler, who has served as LHS principal for 11 years.
