The number 13 might scare some people, but not this group.
Dressed in their bright blue gowns and mortarboards, the latest class of graduates to receive their Florida state high school diplomas from the College of Central Florida Levy Center were covered in smiles.
Among them, a father-daughter duo, James C. Barber, of Fanning Springs, and Cheyenne N. Barber, of Chiefland. And for father a small triumph as he was a high scorer on the reading test with 670.

• The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer Microsoft Word 2007 Intermediate beginning May 24. The course will meet Tuesdays from 6:15 - 9:15 p.m. through June 21. The fee is $119 and includes course materials.

Chiefland High School is once again proud of one of their own, now that 11th grader Hailey Gerhardt has been chosen as one of only 70 students throughout the state for her achievement in science, technology, engineering or math - also known as the STEM.
The criteria for the honor makes up a long list and includes community service hours, SAT and ACT scores, AP/DE participation and GPA’s.  In Hailey’s case, she is a 4.0 student, is enrolled in Dual Enrollment courses, participates in community service, as well as, student government activities.
