  • Stuff the Bus on Saturday

    The Levy County Schools Foundation will be sponsoring the annual “Stuff the Bus” on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
    Bus locations will be as follows: 

    • Bronson: Dollar General Market, US Hwy 27;

    • Cedar Key:  Dollar General Store, SR 24 in Rosewood;

    • Chiefland: Walgreens, US Hwy 19;

    • Inglis/Yankeetown:  Food Ranch Store, US Hwy 19;

    • Williston: Hitchcock’s Foodway, US Hwy 27. 

  • Levy schools get a ‘C’

    High grades for two Levy County middle schools were the highlights of a mixed group of school grade results.
    Levy County schools received a C rating as a whole from the Florida Department of Education for the 2011-2012 school year.
    A more difficult set of academic standards, and the transition to meet these requirements, factored into this year's grade, said Superintendent Robert Hastings.
    "This comes as no surprise given the nature of the changes," Hastings said, "We anticipated that this would happen. Overall we're very happy."

  • Pre-K, kindergarten enrolling now at CES

    There are still openings in Chiefland Elementary School's Voluntary Pre-K program and the school is enrolling now for kindergarten.
       Parents are being urged to skip the delay and stop in at the CES office to pick up information and enrollment packets.
       Anyone who has not registered their child for kindergarten yet needs to come by and pick up our enrollment packet.

  • Scholarship

    The Suwannee River Loyal Order of Moose presented recent high school graduate Nicole Outler, left,of Gainesville, with a college scholarship. Outler plans to double major in oboe performance and early childhood development.

  • May Chiefland Students of the Month

       Three Chiefland students were presented with awards Monday night for academic excellence.
       From left, Dasia Shepherd, of CES, and Dessie Clemons, of CHS, hold up their certificates. Taylor Lewellyn, not pictured, was CMS’s Student of the Month.

  • The Tri-County has 10 new graduate nurses

    Graduates of the Gateway College RN — registered nurse — program are, from left to right,  Elaine Lagasse, Shani King, Pamela Ford, Stephanie Beasley, Karen York, Krissie Philman, Christina Nobs, Jesse Stubblefield, Casey Osteen and Chelsea Woodard.

  • CF STARS summer program for high school students

    The College of Central Florida will offer STARS Summer Program for high school students in Levy County. The Science and Technology Academy for Researchers is free and will be held Monday through Thursday, June 18-21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CF Jack Wilkinson Levy Campus, 7651 N.W. 151st Lane, Fanning Springs. The program is supported by a grant from Progress Energy.

  • Kindergarten screening at CES for 2012-2013 school year

    If your child will be attending kindergarten at Chiefland Elementary School during the 2012-2013 school year, please call the school to schedule a screening appointment today.  
    The dates available are May 30th, May 31st and June 4th during the hours of 3-7pm.  If your child has attended Kountry Kids, Clyatt House, Fun 4 Kids or CES VPK program, then your child may have been screened already. Please check with CES to verify.
