    World Heritage International is now looking for American families to host high school students from Eurasia. All these students have received scholarships through the U.S. State Department sponsored Future Leaders Exchange Program Program and will spend an academic year in the United States. This historic program seeks to foster democracy and values inherent in a free market economy.

    CF to offer information sessions
    on 4-year degrees
    The College of Central Florida will hold information sessions for new four-year degree programs in Early Childhood Education and Business and Organizational Management. CF is now accepting applications for fall semester, which begins Aug. 22.
    Sessions will be held on Monday, Aug. 1, at noon and 5:30 p.m. The sessions will begin in the lobby of the University Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. Breakout sessions will be held for each of the degrees.

  • 21 graduate from GED program

    For the first time, everyone had a lot of breathing room at the GED graduation for 21 students of the College of Central Florida's Levy Center, and they took full advantage of it.
    As 20 of the 21 prospective graduates started the walk to "Pomp and Circumstance" down the center aisle at the Usher Community Center in Chiefland, past almost 200 friends, relatives and college staff, the whoops went up from the crowd.
    "Hey girl," one proud mom called as her adult daughter walked by and took a seat at the front of the room by the stage.

  • Bus, drug incidents drive school board meeting

    Personnel issues involving two bus drivers and a custodian consumed Tuesday's three-plus hour School Board of Levy County meeting.
    The board also called an Aug. 2 public hearing to discuss policy changes, including the adoption of the "baggy pants law," recently approved by Florida legislators.
