  • Chiefland Chamber meets Friday

     The Greater Chiefland Area Chamber of Commerce meeting is Friday, Feb. 24, at noon the Haven Hospice Care Center conference room, located at 311 N.E. 9th St., Chiefland.
     Lunch ordered in and sponsored by Haven Hospice.
     Members are asked to RSVP as soon as possible bu calling the chamber office at 493-1849 or emailing chieflandchamber@bellsouth.net.
    Each month the lunches will be sponsored by a different local Chamber member business throughout the year.

  • Chamber seeks Citizen of the Year nominations for 2011

    Do you know someone who has made a noteworthy contribution to the community, someone who has gone out of his or her way and beyond to help others, a person who demonstrates a dedication to accomplishing encouraging achievements? The Greater Chiefland Area Chamber of Commerce wants to hear from you. Anyone who would like to nominate a person for Citizen of the Year 2011 can submit a letter of recommendation, or call the Chamber office for a nomination form designed to help with the write-up.

    Make reservations for meeting
    The Greater Chiefland Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and members meetings will be Friday, Jan. 27, at a new location.
    The meetings will be at a new temporary location, Haven Hospice,  311 N.E. 9th St., Chiefland.
    Lunch for the membership meeting is being catered in by BubbaQues Restaurant at $5 per person.
    Members need to RSVP to chieflandchamber@bellsouth.net or call the office, Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

     The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today addressed issues for Progress Energy Florida remaining from its annual cost recovery hearing held on Nov. 2-3.

  • Chiefland Christmas Festival, Parade

       The 2011 Chiefland Christmas Festival & Parade will be on Saturday, Dec. 3, in downtown Chiefland at the historic Train Depot, Trailhead Park and the surrounding area on U.S. Highway 19 South.
       The Festival will begin at 10 a.m. with arts and crafts, music and song and activities for children.
       The lighted parade theme “Winter Wonderland” starts at 6 p.m.  followed by the evening celebration that includes the lighting ceremony, caroling and visits with Santa.

    To help secure a diversified and stable energy future for Florida, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved cost recovery amounts for construction of planned nuclear generating plants and additions to existing nuclear plants for Progress Energy Florida (PEF) and Florida Power & Light Company (FPL).
