  • Grand Opening at Mangrove Outfitters

    Mangrove Creek Outfitters had its opening this past weekend. Owner Robert Hornsby said about 60 people “not including friends and family,” had visited the store on Friday and through the first half of Saturday.


    The store is open 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. everyday except, Sunday and Monday.

    They accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, debit cards and cash.

       Haven Hospice has named Paul E. Ver Hoeve II the new senior vice president and chief operating officer.
       Prior to joining Haven, Ver Hoeve served in a number of executive leadership roles in operations and business development for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions at national home health and senior living organizations.

  • Bronson councilman's BBQ business detoured by wreck

    Bronson Town Councilman Berlon Weeks' plans for opening a barbecue business in a food trailer to be parked at State Road  24 and U.S. Highway 27 has taken a detour following a wreck on SR 24 near Cedar Key.
    Weeks was driving a pickup truck pulling a trailer to Cedar Key for a dinner event when he pulled over to the right shoulder.
    While passenger Jerry Hammond, 62, of Bronson, stayed in the truck. Weeks, 38, and Matthew R. Davis, of Bronson, went to the back to re-tie the load of food.

  • SRWMD promotes recycled water through reuse

    Florida Gov. Rick Scott has issued a proclamation declaring May 15-21 as Florida Water Reuse Week to spread awareness and highlight the importance of reclaimed water.
    The Suwannee River Water Management District is joining in with the state to promote the benefits of this important alternative water resource.
    Reclaimed water is highly treated wastewater that is reused for irrigation, toilet flushing, clothes washing, and other non-potable uses.
