  • Chiefland Christmas Festival signup opens

    Now is the time to sign up for the Chiefland Chamber of Commerce Christmas Festival, Parade and the 2nd annual Rudolf 5k Run all happening on Saturday, Dec. 7.

    The vendor application for artists, crafters and informational vendors and the parade application can be found on the Chiefland Citizen website, www.chieflandcitizen.com. The Chamber no longer has any food vendor spaces available. 

    If you are interested in being one of our vendors just print the form and mail with your check or money order as soon as possible. 

  • Pizza franchise to raise money for breast cancer

    Hungry Howie’s kicked off its fifth annual Love, Hope & Pizza campaign on Oct. 1. The campaign raises funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), which is a recipient of Charity Navigator’s highest four-star rating for nine consecutive years.

  • Facebook for Business Workshop

    The Withlacoochee Gulf Area Inglis/Yankeetown Chamber is sponsoring a free workshop for its members to learn how to increase sales by using Facebook. No experience with Facebook is necessary to participate in the workshop. The workshop will be at the Inglis Community Center, Thursday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. 

    Space is limited. Users are encouraged to bring their own laptop. Some computers will be available.

    The non-member fee is $20 per person.

  • Business of the year winner

     Chiefland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram was named this year’s Business of the Year recipient at the annual Industry of the Year Award Banquet, sponsored by the Greater Area Chiefland Chamber of Commerce. 

    Award recipients are chosen by the Chamber Board of Directors based on nominations made by the general public each year. The selection is based on how the business operates and its level of involvement with the community.

  • Music school opens in Bronson

    Private music lessons for adults and children will be offered in Bronson by Robbie Blake, professional musician and music instructor. 

  • WZCC adds FM frequency; CHS football games will have new clarity

    Suncoast Radio, Inc. owner of WZCC radio station in Cross City, is on the FM radio band with the acquisition of radio station W227AV in Newberry from Reach Communications of Fort Lauderdale.

  • Grand opening ribbon cutting

    Encore Hair Salon held its grand opening recently. To help celebrate the occasion, the Greater Chiefland Area chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting to help commemorate the event.

  • Summer slump hits Levy workers

    It was not unexpected, but today's jobless report shows unemployment in Levy County inched up to 8.3 percent — up half a point — in the month of June. However, it was well below the June 2012 rate of 10.1 percent and the 2011 rate of 11.3 percent.
