The Greater Chiefland Area Chamber of Commerce turned out a crowd on Monday morning for the ribbon cutting and opening of the Beef O'Brady's on U.S. Highway 19 north of Chiefland. Franchise owners Stacey and Mark Swain will operate the family-oriented, sports theme casual dining restaurant. Beefs, as the chain's operations are known, will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

For more than 20 years, the Greater Chiefland Area Chamber of Commerce has observed Industry Appreciation Week by honoring an exemplary local company as Business of the Year.
This year’s Awards Banquet will be on Tuesday, Sept. 11. But every year, the work for the event starts months earlier by asking the community to nominate a business worthy of the award.

Chef Peter Leonauvicius, grilling and sautéing, doesn’t use a lot of fresh water in preparing food, and he doesn’t worry about the salty water he has to use to wash dishes. But he does worry that it will keep people away from Cedar key.
“It’s not a health issue,” Leonauvicius, co-owner of Cedar Key’s Steamers Clam Bar and Grill, said Friday about the sodium chloride-laden water that has infiltrated the island’s water supply. “My main worry is about the loss of revenue. That’s the big deal.”

Two residents have formed a music promotion company to help raise the profile of local bands and their first gig is Saturday at Double Down in Gainesville with Steel Bridge of Cross City and and Crosstyz of Bell.
Michael Michalis, an agent with Don Martin Insurance in Fanning Springs, and Rod Whited, an agent with Nothwestern Mutual insurance, have formed RAM MAN Productions.
