• Drummond-Perkins merger complete on Monday

    Levy County's two remaining community banks — Perkins State Bank and Drummond Community Bank — are in the final steps of completing the merger they announced in June 2012.

  • Good news on job front for Levy

    What a difference two years makes.

    Two years ago the Levy County unemployment rate for January was 13 percent, the highest it had been for the county since April 2008 when it was 5.2 percent and started growing.

    In November 2008 it hit 8.9 percent and kept moving up until two years ago.

  • White Ford rejuvenating

    While White Ford is hosting the 2013 Fusion event this evening, the folks at the dealership would like to say they are doing a little re-investment in the business and residents can keep an eye out for good things.
    Don Barrett, general manager, said the dealership that has been in business for 58 years, is also getting an upgrade from the founders, the White family, and has plans to move ahead.
    The entire auto industry took a severe hit with the economic downturn in 2008. And while General Motors and Chrysler took the federal auto bailout money, Ford Motor Co. did not.

  • Go further with White Ford and help Haven Hospice


    White Ford Company, Inc., is sponsoring “Go Further with Ford Night” today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the dealership on U.S. Highway 19 with proceeds benefitting Haven Hospice of North Central Florida.

    For each person who attends the event, White Ford will donate $10, up to a total of $500, to Haven Hospice. The event is the closing act in the Random Acts of Fusion adventure hosted by celebrity Ryan Seacrest.

    November promises to be a monster month for job seekers in Citrus, Levy and Marion counties with Workforce Connection offering nearly 80 free workshops and recruiting events, including a Monster.com Power Seeker Workshop to help college and VoTech students put the “hire” in “higher education” and a Fall Career Fair featuring 17 local employers.

  • Business Council to meet

    The Nature Coast Business Development Council will meet Tuesday, Nov. 13, at  9 a.m. at the Workforce Connection Levy Resource Center, 109 N.W. 3rd Ave., Chiefland.

    Workforce Connection of Citrus, Levy and Marion counties cautions jobseekers to be alert for scammers usurping the names of legitimate businesses and organizations to take advantage of those looking for work.
