  • Murphy Oil to bring 8 jobs

     A Murphy Oil USA spokesman has confirmed that the fuel discounter is building a convenience store and gas station on a 1.12-acre site on U.S. Highway 19/27A and Northwest 21st Avenue in Chiefland.

  • Ribbon cutting

     The Greater Chiefland Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored a ribbon cutting for  The Law Office of Kenton Whitmer.  The practice is located at 117 N.E. 1st Street.

  • TV winner

     Aaron's Sales and Lease in Chiefland is celebrating the chain's 55th anniversary with contests and prizes, but Diane Hartman of Old Town was gifted as if it were her own celebration. Hartman registered a number on a scratch-off card she was given at the Chiefland store at aarons.com and was notified she won a  52-inch Sharp Aquos television. Wonder if she's hosting the Superbowl party this year?

  • Chiefland Chamber sponsors “Scarecrow City”

    The Chiefland Chamber of Commerce is looking for participation from local businesses, families or clubs for their first  “Scarecrow City” on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. till noon, with an  awards ceremony to follow. The contest will take place at Trailhead Park by the Chiefland Train Depot on U.S. Highway 19 and Southeast 2nd Avenue.

  • Ribbon cutting at A Woman's Place

     The Greater Chiefland Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for A Woman's Place medical clinic, 1415 N.W. 23rd Avenue, Chiefland, 352-493-9393. The business is operated by Lauren Williams, owner and nurse practioner, and provides medical care for women patients age 14 and over.

  • Tourism summit pitches unusual trips to Levy County

     Levy County was well represented at the 5th Annual Pure Water Wilderness Tourism Summit held Sept. 14, in Pine Grove Baptist Church.

  • Ribbon cutting

     There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for Chiefland Daycare and Learning Centers at noon, Oct. 15, at 2510 N.W. 15th Lane, Chiefland.

       An open house is scheduled the same day from 6 to 8 p.m. at the center’s two campuses.  The other campus is located at 124 S.W. 17th Ave.
