    The Levy County Sheriff's Office reports the following arrests:

    •Jan. 18, Armando Alonso, 43, Archer, battery by strangulation, possession of marijuana, possession and/or use of drug paraphernalia. Bond $52,000.

    •Jan. 24, Rexford Batten, 31, Inglis, VOP.

    •Jan. 19, Christina Danielle Boyd, 34, Gainesville, DWLSR.

    •Jan. 18, Timothy Troy Brown, 44, Williston, battery. Bond $5,000.

    •Jan. 20, David Chilcote, 50, Williston, two out of county warrant, felony warrant. Bond $3,000.

  • Man arrested on sex charges

    A tip to the Florida Department of Children and Families Abuse Hotline has resulted in the arrest of a Williston man on charges he rigged his home to record young girls as they came out of the shower, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.

    Mark Kristian Stringer, 59, faces multiple charges of video voyeurism and two counts of lewd or lascivious battery of a minor child.

  • FWC Enforcement Report

    LEVY COUNTY – Officer Schulz was on land patrol in the area of Watermelon Pond Wildlife Management Area (WMA) when he found a vehicle parked in a secluded area during closed hunting season. Officer Schulz noted where the subject had entered the WMA and concealed himself to wait for the hunter’s return. When the hunter arrived he was dressed in camouflage, carrying a shotgun and a crow decoy with a speaker (electronic call). The man admitted to hunting during closed season and using electric game calls. Officer Schulz issued the appropriate citations and warnings.

  • Christian school worker arrested on sex charge

    A 26-year-old man who was a bus driver for Vision Christian Academy in Raleigh was arrested on Jan. 27 and faces charges of lewd and lascivious behavior with a seventh grade student.

    Devonte Jerome White, of Williston, was arrested after he admitted to Levy County Sheriff's deputies that he has engaged in sexual activity with the girl, but had ended the relationship and communication with the student, according to the arrest report.

    •Jan. 29, Kevin Geovany Campos, 20, Trenton, operate motor vehicle W/O valid license, possession of marijuana. ROR.

    •Jan. 26, Samuel S. DeLoach, 45, Archer, two counts VOP. No bond.

    •Jan. 26, Cunguan Dong, 46, Chiefland, resist arrest, commit theft, resist recovery of property. Bond $500.

    •Jan. 31, Brenda Michelle Hallman, 40, Chiefland, battery.

    •Jan. 15, Stephanie Lynn Beach, 33, Trenton, VOP. No bond.

    •Jan. 11, Alexander G. Beck, 27, Bronson, possession of marijuana, possession and/or use of drug paraphernalia. Bond $1,500.

    •Jan. 12, Margaret K. Bies, 35, Inglis, disorderly intoxication. Bond $250.

    •Jan. 13, Christopher Shawn Bradley Jr., 29, Williston, possession of marijuana.

  • One person hospitalized after crash

    Staff report

    A Chiefland woman was transported to Shands after failing to yield to oncoming traffic while pulling on to US Highway 19/North Main Street on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

    According to reports, Madison Kathleen Deer pulled out of a parking lot and slowed down without coming to a complete stop. She pulled onto the roadway and collided with Christy L. Reiff of Palm Harbor who was traveling in the ourside lane southbound. Reiff is reported as saying she turned to the left in an attempt to avoid the collision, but it was too late.

  • Monday accident takes out traffic light

    A car accident at Park Ave. and Main Street on Monday afternoon took out the light at the intersection for a time. At least one person was transported to Shands.
