  • EMS team represents Levy in contest

    Levy County Department of Public Safety members, Stephen Ferguson, Humberto Jimenez, Mandy Willis, Paige Hiers, Cody Basham, Tyrone Edwards, Jonathon Crawford and David Florance, volunteered to represent Levy County in the Bill Shearer International Advanced Life Support (ALS)Competition at CLINCON 2014 in Orlando on July 17-18.

    This event is a challenge for critical thinking and problem solving in advanced life support skills used in the field.

  • Sheriff's Report & Most Wanted for the week of July 31

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • July 25, Valrize Latrice Bristol, 34, Bronson, domestic.

    • July 25, Marcus Kevron Burch, 29, Lake City, criminal attempt to solicit, battery, grand theft. Bond $50,000.

    • July 21, Demetrius Kenard Christia, 21, Williston, fraud, no valid DL, petit theft. Bond $11,500.

    • July 27, Kristi Cooprider, 26, Inglis, two counts FTA. Bond $2,000.

  • July 18 wreck on US 27 injures two

    One person was airlifted and another was transported to Shands Hospital at UF Health following a Friday July 18 wreck involving three vehicles on U.S. Highway 27A south of Bronson.

    Frederick Anthony Roech, 43, of Bronson was airlifted with serious injuries, while the passenger in his vehicle, Kimberly Dawn Moore, 39, of Bronson, was transported due to minor injuries.

  • 2 children hurt in ATV mishap

    A 7-year-old from Gainesville suffered serious injury and an 8-year-old companion from Trenton suffered minor injury after both were in an ATV accident on private property on Northeast 10th Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

    The younger child was transported to Shands Hospital at UF Health in Gainesville for treatment.

    Both are not being identified due to their ages.

    • July 19, Pavel Beno, 48, Williston, four counts aggravated assault. Bond $100,000.

    • July 14, James Virgill Boatwright Sr., 50, Chiefland resisting officer W/OV. Bond $550.

    • July 15, Alex Hernandez, 44, Archer, VOP.

    • July 16, Coleman Wesley Jordon, 34, Chiefland, warrant. Bond $50,000.

    • July 14, Tammy Kerr, 40, Chiefland, DWLSR. Bond $1,000.

    • July 10, Terri Leigh Blankenship, 55, Morriston, drug paraphernalia advertise, DUI, possession of marijuana. Bond $2,500.

    • July 7, Edna Patricia Carey, 43, Trenton, battery.

    • July 12, Charlie Eugene Chisolm, 32, Fanning Springs, possession of marijuana. Bond $5,000.

  • Police seek info on Williston murder

    A shooting that left a Williston man dead Saturday is still under investigation as authorities look to the public for information on who pulled the trigger that killed Leo Rives, 31.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

  • Warning issued about tainted crack in Williston

    Crack users are being warned about a tainted batch of the drug in East Williston after seven people — including five transported to an emergency room in Gainesville — suffered violent seizures, high blood pressure and foaming at the mouth after falling unconscious.

  • Sheriff’s sergeant honored

    Levy Sounty Sheriff's Investigator Sgt. Mike Narayan was honored with a VALOR Award presented by WSKY 97.3 FM radio station on June 26.

    The station was recognizing law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel. Narayan is a supervisor in the Criminal Investigations Division.

    He began his career with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office in 1999 and has served as a patrol deputy, a drug task force investigator and in his current assignment as a supervisor and investigator in the Criminal Investigations Division.
