  • The Springtime Levy County Fair will take place between April 8 and 11 this year at the Williston Airport Industrial Park, located across from the Williston Horseman’s Park.

    Upcoming country music star Kenyon Lockry, presented by Mel Tillis Enterprises, will be performing on the main stage Friday, April 9.  McKinley and Beggs Band will be performing on the main stage the following night.  A battle-of-the-bands contest will take place throughout the dates of the fair, as well as the featuring of Miss Levy County Fair and Little Miss Levy County Fair.

    Vet museum

    All World War II veterans are welcome to join the celebration at 11:30 a.m. at the U. S. Victory Museum in Archer. O’s So Sweet of Williston will cater the event.

    The museum is located within the historic 1890 Archer City Hall, dedicated to the sailors, soldiers and airmen who served and defended our great country.

    The Cedar Keyhole Gallery is proud to announce Artist of the month for February 2010 is Sheila Thomas.

  • By all accounts, Beverly and Richard Felmey of Bell should be having the time of their life cruising around the Caribbean on a tour ship sending postcards home to their son, Levy County Deputy Brian Capps, of Fanning Springs, and their daughter, Healther Class, of Bell.

    They made it to the Caribbean, but not as tourists. The Felmeys operate the Feed My Sheep Mission in Montrouis, Haiti. It's a mission, school and clinic that the couple has operated since 1998.

  • A basic pistol class, hosted By Levy County Sheriffs Office, that can qualify an individual for Florida Concealed weapons permit will be held Feb. 6 at 8 a.m. at the Levy County Sheriffs Office Classroom, 9150 N.E. 80th Ave., Bronson.

    The cost is $65 with proceeds benefitting the family of slain Dixie County Sheriff's Capt. Chad Reed. Reed was killed in the line of duty last week leaving behind a wife and two children.

    The Cedar Keyhole Gallery is proud to announce Artist of the Month for January 2010 is Russel Raethka.Russel (Russ) Raethka challenges the standards normally attributed to watercolor paintings. Whereas a watercolor is usually expected to present a soft, muted representation, Russ depicts his scenes in sharp, crisp definitions that could easily be assigned to a real-time sighting.

  • Chiefland FFA’s 1st Annual homemade chili cook-off 2010 contest will be Friday, February 12 from 5-6 p.m. at the Chiefland High School Cafeteria. The $10 entry fee includes dinner.

    Entry forms must be received by Feb. 5. Check-in for participants is 4:45 p.m. with a minimum of one gallon of chil, so everyone gets a taste. Judging will begin at 5 p.m. with the meal being served to the general public for $5 at 5:30 p.m.
