       Fanning Springs State Park will host its annual spring garden festival Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A variety of native plants will be for sale, and techniques for environmentally friendly watering, fertilizing and controlling pest will be demonstrated.

       Turning Point Ministry is making it easy to shop for that special someone for Mother's Day and Father's Day with a sale of gift items.
       Local sales consultants from companies such as Avon, Arbonne, Blessings Unlimited, Dove Chocolate, Nature Burst, Pampered Chef, Premier Designs Jewelry, Scentsy and Thirty One will be on hand 1-6 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Turning Point, 16750 N.W. 60th Ave., Trenton.

  • Lighthouse Word Church celebrated its 29th anniversary March 27, with a special Rodeo Roundup service. Everyone was encouraged to come dressed in western wear. Fun was had by all as the youth performed in drama and dance and the children raced their homemade stick horses around the sanctuary. The service was followed by barbecue dinner on the grounds. Lighthouse Word Church on U.S. Highway 27A, Chiefland.

    St. John the Evangelist Church on U.S. Highway 27A will have their spring yard sale Friday, April 8, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday, April 9, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a large assortment of furniture, appliances, clothing and household items. Come early for the best choices! We are still accepting items if you are downsizing or have treasures you no longer have room for.

  • Memorial Day plans
    Ivan Chubb, who organizes the annual Memorial Day ceremonies in Cedar Key and Bronson, has announced plans for the events.
    Chubb informed the Levy County Commission that the Cedar Key ceremony will be held in the Cedar Key Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 29.
    The Bronson ceremony will be held at the city cemetery at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 30.
    Chubb said Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5625 in Chiefland would be presenting the colors at the ceremonies.
