       The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday, April 21, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  It was a great day with twelve Red Hat Ladies from Gainesville out for a visit and lunch with us.  Four ladies from Gulf Hammock were also over for a visit, lunch and to enjoy the porch with humming birds also visiting.

  •    Nancy Reissner, acting director of the Malcom Randall Veterans Administration in Gainesville, awarded Dorothy J. Caldwell a certificate of appreciation. She has served 28 years and 26,000 hours to the hospitalized veterans at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, in Gainesville, through their voluntary service program.

  • Donations to Haven Hospice Attic trailer supports services 
       Spring cleaning is a good time for making a donation of unwanted or unneeded clothing and household items to the Haven Hospice Attic donation trailer at Scoggins Chevrolet Buick, 1424 N. Young Blvd., Chiefland.

  • We were saying our goodbyes in the school parking lot when momma must’ve completely lost her mind! “Here son,” she smiled, handing me her camera, “Take a few pictures on your field trip.”  I gulped like I’d swallowed my tonsils. Did she remember I was just in the fourth grade?


    Outdoor Truths

  •      Local band, Dotti South and the Slackers will be performing Saturday at 5 p.m. during the town of Suwannee’s Stone Crab Festival. There will be lots of activities and plenty of food and fun, along with several other musical acts including: E.T. Morris, Mainstream band, Matt Davis, Amos Neo, Shauna Clark and Section 8. So, come on down and have some fun with Dotti South and the Slackers.
    All proceeds go towards the funding of  Suwannee’s 4th of July fireworks display.

    Friends' book sale
    A book sale by the Friends of the Dunnellon Library will be in the Dunnellon Library Meeting Room, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Prices: Hardcover, 50 cents; Paperbacks, 25 cents; and Saturday only, a “bag of books" for $4. The library is at 20351 Robinson Rd, Dunnellon.
