    St. Alban's Episcopal Church will hold a yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a large variety of household items, clothing and books. Hot dogs and sodas will be available for lunch.
    The church is located four miles north of Chiefland on U.S. Highway 19.

      Register for Dixie County Fall Festival
     Registration for the Dixie County Rotary Fall Festival Car Show and Parade is happening until Saturday.  Business owners are especially encouraged to participate as a way of raising awareness of your business in Dixie County.

  •    The Jefferson-Sheffield American Legion Auxiliary No. 91 in Trenton is making an effort to support by fundraising, the Gainesville Fisher House.
       The Gainesville Fisher House Foundation is about supporting families of wounded or injured service men and women. They help with housing for families while they are in the VA Hospital undergoing rehabilitation or treatment. Their website is www.fisherhouse.org in case someone in not familiar with it.

  • Normally (depending on which definition of normal you are using), I am not given to much grumbling. I do admit to every now and then exercising my right to complain a little, but it is not anything to write home about.
    If you would inquire with the Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage she might have a different opinion altogether. It seems that the only thing we really agree on is that we do not agree on too much. Our biggest disagreement would be in this area of grumbling.

  • Bronson UMC holds yard sale
    The AE Circle of the Bronson United Methodist Church will sponsor a yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the recreation hall. Look for signs. Proceeds will benefit the church, which is remodeling a kitchen.

    Tourism board to meet
    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will hold its bi-monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson. The meeting is open to the public.

    Chicken 'n' dumplings at Shrine Club
    The Suwannee River Shrine Club  will hold a chicken 'n' dumpling dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. or until the food runs out. Dinner is available to eat in or take out. The suggested donation is $7 for all you can eat. The public is welcome.

  • The Annual  Gulf Hammock Homecoming and Smallwood Reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, beginning at 10 a.m. at Henry Beck Park in Gulf Hammock.
    Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Plates, utensils, cups, tea, and ice will be furnished. Those participating are asked to please bring a covered dish and chairs. Friends, relatives, residents, and former residents of Gulf Hammock are invited.
