  • Denny and Jo Williams, of Chiefland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were wed on June 20, 1961, in Dade City.

  •    Mr. and Mrs. Chet and Dana Collins and Stephen Jones, of Bell, announce the engagement of their daughter Andi Jones, also of Bell, to Randy T. Ransom, of Chiefland. Ransom is the son of Randy and Jammie Ransom, of Trenton, and Lorrie Hammock, of Chiefland.
       The bride-to-be attended  Bell High School and is currently studying nursing at Santa Fe College. The groom-to-be attended Chiefland High School and works at the Gilchrist Club, in Trenton.
    The wedding is planned for July 2, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Pricilla Baptist Church.

    Director, Quilt Museum
    The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday, June 16, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  Some quilted and Joye brought in fabric that everyone had a great time looking for material for a future project. We always enjoy all the fabric that comes in because we can plan what our next project will be.
    More quilts are being planned and will soon be put together and quilted. We keep Eleanor busy as she does quilts on her machine. We do only hand quilting here.


  • Wanda Neilsen and William Graden are set to marry June 25, at 2 p.m. at 214 S.E. 3rd Ave., in Trenton.

  • D&D Studios Inc, had its 6th Annual Spring Dance Recital Friday and Saturday nights at the Chiefland High School auditorium. Each night's performances included dance numbers from Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap and Pom.
    Ages ranged from 3 to 74. The music styles consisted of Christian, Hip-Hop, Broadway, Country and Western and even some Shirley Temple.
    Owner Debbie Dean would like to thank all the students for their hard work and dedication, as well as the community for their continued support.


  •    Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services held a memorial "Hope Rising Father's Day Balloon Release" at the Chiefland location on Sunday, June 19. More than 30 people gathered for the memorial service and released balloons to the heavens afterward.
       The company purchased biodegradable balloons and environmentally friendly ribbon for the release.

    There are many feelings people experience when dealing with a loss. Grief, sadness, anger and confusion are just a few. However, children, teens and adults all grieve differently, so a different counseling approach is needed.

  •    Eight members and friends of the Florida Paddling Trails Association did a coastal clean-up around Bird Creek Bridge on County Road 40 in Yankeetown on June 18.

    Tourism grant meeting
    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Agricultural Center, 625 N. Hathaway Ave. in Bronson. The meeting is for the 2011-2012 advertising grant application review and recommendations. The meeting is open to the public.

    Tourism task force to meet
    The monthly meeting of the Original Florida Tourism Task Force will take place June 23, at 10 a.m. at the Best Western Inn Plus of Wakulla in Crawfordville.
