  •    Brad Pitts would like to announce the birth of his sister, Grace Laren Pitts, who was born on Nov. 6, 2010.  She weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20 inches long.
       Both are the children of William and Stacy Pitts and the grandchildren of Frank and Vicky Pitts, of Chiefland; Leslie McGuire, of Chiefland; and Alan Jenkins, of Trenton.
    They are the great-grandchildren of Attie and the late “Little Boy” Williams, of Chiefland; Jetty and the late Red Blake, also of Chiefland; and Betty and the late Elmer Jenkins, of Trenton.

    The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  We are having a great time with our Quilt Show. We will leave everything as is until the first of the year, and then it’s time to get ready to take quilts and crafts to Tampa for the Florida State Fair.

  • Are you looking for something a little different to help you celebrate Christmas this year?  If so, you will love the  “It’s A Madison County Christmas” play.

    The performance is at Lighthouse Word Church on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 10:30 a.m.

    The morning will begin with brunch and Christmas goodies, followed by the play, featuring good old country humor, and ending with traditional Christmas Carols.

  • Cedar Key is holding a boat parade on Saturday, Dec. 11, with a rain date on Sunday, Dec. 12.

    Boats will line up in the Gulf in front of the Beach Front Motel around dusk.

    Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated boats.

  •  World War II veterans celebrate Christmas

  •  Workforce Connection is hosting Talent Marketplaces to connect men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces with local employers who value the leadership skills and work ethic veterans have to offer. 

  •  This October, seven Chiefland senior FFA members, along with advisors Dallas Locke and Katie Jones, traveled to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.  They represented the state of Florida well, with the Dairy Judging team finishing 23rd and team member Rheba Sheffield qualifying as a gold medal finalist.  Also, Hailey Bason made top 16 in the nation for Creed Speaking, and Sarah Gore competed in the National Talent Competition.
