Carl and Amanda Colson of Chiefland announce the engagement of their daughter, Burgandy Colson of Chiefland to Christopher "Red" Arrington of Chiefland, son of Randy and Jeanne Arrington of Chiefland.
The bride-to-be and groom-to-be are both graduates of Chiefland High School. Miss Colson has a Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology and is an independant consultant for Premier Designs Jewelry. Mr. Arrington is a cattle farmer in Kentucky.
Legion membership meeting
American Legion Post 91 will have its regular membership meeting with dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the meeting. New officers for 2011-12 will be announced. All members and prospective members are invited. The post is located at 4200 South U.S. Highway 129 between Trenton and Bell next to the FFA Arena.
The National Council of the Society of St.Vincent de Paul (SVdP) today awarded a $1,000 grant to help the needy in Chiefland. The money is part of the Society’s annual Friends of the Poor grant program and will provide several forms of assistance, including help with utility bills.
Drummond Community Bank held its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Usher Park in Chiefland for its customers’ and employees’ families. Children were treated to a day of hunting for candy eggs and other activities as well as a grilled lunch. About 100-150 turned out for the annual event. This is the 19th year the bank has sponsored the event.

Linnie Beck and Anne Zubler will be hosting a Garden Party Luncheon for The Suwannee River Garden Club on Saturday, May 21, noon to 4 p.m.
The event will be held at the home of Anne Zubler. Club members should bring dishes to share that are in keeping with the theme of a "Garden Party". We expect to have approximately twenty five attendees.
A fancy hat contest will be judged by silent vote so everyone should dust off their finest millinery creations.
