    The Medicare pharmacy "doughnut hole" is undergoing some repairs — such as a $250 rebate check offered during 2010. This is part of the new Affordable Care Act which is finally reducing prescription drug costs in each of the coming years until the doughnut hole is closed in about 2020.

    Donald Raleigh, a resident of Levy County for 23 years, is just the kind of worker you want if you have a home in need of repair. The Jackson, Ky. native has worked in construction, operated a crane, even done metal work at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida.

  • Senior center Santa

    On December 17, Santa visited the Cruse Senior Center where seniors meet every day to enjoy fellowship, games and lunch.
    The Cruse Center is located on the corner of US Hwy. 129 and NW 50th St. - four miles north of the blinker light in Bell. If you are a senior (60 years old and up), please feel free to join them.
    Our local Santa, Michael Moore, also visited the Trenton Senior Center. Please come and join other seniors at either one of our Senior Centers during the coming year.

    AARP held its regular monthly meeting Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lodge of Otter Springs.
    December is our fund raising month; we will be having a Silent Auction of all of the items that the members bring in.  There are always many good buys for the wise shopper. The high-lite of the day will be the "noisey auction" where you will have a chance to bid on items donated by local merchants.  It's always a lot of fun.
