  • Engagement: Spivey-Jerrels

       Mickey and Cheryl Beauchamp, of Bronson, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jaime Leigh Spivey, to Lint William Jerrels II, son of Lint Jerrels Sr. and Donna Jerrels, of Archer.
       Jaime is the granddaughter of the late James and Vivian Sims. of Bronson, and Malcolm and Virginia Beauchamp, of White Springs. Lint is the grandson of Geneva Jerrels and the late Rubin Jerrels Jr., of Bronson, and Oriene Karns and the late Hugh Carver Sr., of Anthony.

  • Nursing home celebrates volunteer week

       The Tri County Nursing Home and Rehab celebrated its volunteers last week. Volunteers are an important and integral part of the nursing home and making a difference in the lives of the residents. It is with their continued support that residents are happily entertained.

  • Golden Anniversary: Allen

    William and Cleo (Wilkerson) Allen will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday  from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Full Gospel Outreach Church. The celebration is open to family and friends. No gifts, please. The church is at 14790 U.S. Highway 19 in Chiefland.

  • Birth: Viker

    Matthew Paul Viker, son of David and Mary Viker, of Canton, Ga., was born March 2, 2012.
    Matthew was 21 inches long at birth and weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. He joins his brother, Dane David, 15, and sister, Mary Taylor, 11.
    His paternal grandparents are Trish Viker, of Bronson and Ellen Viker, of Raleigh, N.C. Matthew's maternal grandparents are Mattie and Gene Edwards, of Asheville, N.C. and Anne Cotton George, of Marksville, La.

  • A bakers dozen join ranks, represent University of Florida

    Thirteen new Master Gardeners joined the ranks of the Nature Coast Master Gardeners (NCMG) following the April graduation ceremony. The new members have successfully completed a rigorous and intellectually challenging 50-hour Master Gardener training program. NCMG’s are sponsored by the state-wide University of Florida/ IFAS Extension Master Gardener Program in cooperation with the Levy County Board of County Commissioners and the national Master Gardener program.

  • Hometown Hero

      Hunter Kline lives in Ocala. He has been involved with EMS for three years, all of which have been at Levy County DPS.
    His hobbies include motorcross, fishing and hunting.
      He says what he likes most about his job is being able to interact with the public and helping people in need.

     

    Hometown Heroes is a cooperative feature of the Levy County Department of Public Safety and the Chiefland Citizen.

  • Egg hunt in Fanning Springs

    The City of Fanning Springs held its annual Easter egg hunt, March 31, at Fort Fanning Historical Park. Mayor, Cheryl Nekola wishes to recognize those that volunteered their time and efforts and made donations to help make the event a success.   • Log Cabin Quilters for April 12

    The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday, April 5, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  The sidewalk supervisors were kept very busy with both quilts in the frames being worked. The Take 5 quilt had people busy sewing the blocks, several were sandwiching a baby quilt together, several were working on cutting out a braid quilt and we even had several working hard just rocking in the rocking chairs.

  • Basic training graduate

       Air Force Airman 1st Class Benjamin R. Nutt graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
     The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
     Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
     Nutt earned distinction as an honor graduate.

  • Springhouse Quilters

    The March business meeting of the Springhouse Quilter's Guild convened Tuesday, March 13, with President Mary Rawlins officiating.  Madam President thanked the guild ladies for their assistance during the March 10 Trenton Quilt and Craft Festival and reiterated her appreciation for their sharing of time and self.  The 39 members and one guest present enjoyed a delightful brunch.  Door prizes were won by Janet Gooding, Lois Johnson and Ve Wietor.
