  • Military — Whetstone

    Tucker W. Whetstone son of proud parents Shayne and David Barber and brother of Jacob and Cole Whetstone has graduated from Ft. Leonardwood, Mo.

    He will be an army military police K-9 handler.

  • Military — Lovelace

    Air Force Airman William S. Lovelace IV graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Lovelace is the son of Kerrianne L. Lovelace of Trenton. He is a 2015 graduate of Bell High School.

    The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Birth: Lamberson

    Donna “Shelly” Smith and Eladio Lamberson Sr., of Bronson, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Urijah Liam Lamberson, on Aug. 4, 2015, at UF Health Shands Hospital. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 21 inches in height.

  • Gulf Hammock Homecoming, Smallwood Reunion

    The Annual Gulf Hammock Homecoming and Smallwood Reunion is on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Gulf Hammock at Beck Park off County Road 326.

    The gathering begins at 10 a.m. and lunch is at 1 p.m.

    Plates, cups, tea. ice will be furnished. Please bring a covered dish of food and chairs.

    Friends, relatives, residents and former residents, etc., are welcome.

  • Brock reunion

    The annual Brock Reunion is to be held at Manatee Springs State Park on Sunday, Oct. 4. All attending are asked to bring a covered dish.

    Arrival time is tentatively set for 10:30 a.m. The festivities will continue until 5 p.m. We plan to eat at 12:30 p.m.

  • Chiefland TU grad makes Dean's List

    Josue R. Martinez of Chiefland, a Class of 2015 graduate, was named to the Dean’s List at  Thomas University for the Spring Semester 2015. Dean’s List students attend TU full-time and have a GPA of 3.5 to 3.99.

    Thomas University, established in 1950, is a private not-for-profit university of about 1,100 students located in Thomasville, Ga. TU awards associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees using traditional classroom  

    settings and online delivery.

  • Supervisor of Elections inducted

    Tammy Jones, Levy County Supervisor of Elections, was sworn in as the 2015‐2016 treasurer of the Florida State Association of Supervisor of Elections (FSASE) at the 2015 Annual Summer Conference held June 7‐10 in Kissimmee.

    Jones, second from right,  was elected to the office by her fellow supervisors from across the State of Florida.

  • Airman Arnold completes basic training in Texas

    Air Force Airman Jacob T. Arnold, son of Ira R. and April Arnold of Trenton, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is a 2014 graduate of Trenton High School, Trenton.

  • Celebrating gold

    Marie E. and William T. Brown will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their wedding on Saturday June 20 with friends and family at the Pavillion at Manatee Springs State Park.

    The couple was married in Miami.

  • Fire chief honored

    Chiefland Fire Rescue Chief James Harris was presented with a five-year service award by Vice Mayor Betty Walker at last week's Chiefland City Commission meeting.

    Harris has said that the longevity of fire chiefs averages five years, so he has exceeded that mark.
