  • Log Cabin Quilters: April 14

    The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday, April 8, at the Levy County Quilt Museum. We decided not to quilt the Dresden Plate as we thought the black background would fade. So, a Log Cabin quilt was put in, and we know it will be great when quilted.

  • Engagement: Roquemore-Wilhelm

       Jake and Dottie Wilhelm, of Cincinnati, Ohio, announce the engagement of their daughter, Julie Ann Wilhelm, of Orange Park, to Steven Thomas Roquemore, of Fowlers Bluff. Roquemore is the son of David and Susan Roquemore, of Cedar Key.
       Wilhelm graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, and she has a degree from the University of Cincinnati. Roquemore graduated from Cedar Key High School and also attended Santa Fe Community College. He has a degree in seamanship from the Harry Lundberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point, Md.

  • Log Cabin Quilters: April 7

    The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday, March 31, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  The weather was bad for a while. The worst of it was to the north of us, yet we did get the much-needed rain.  A new quilt was put in the frame to be hand quilted.
    Greg and six boys were out Wednesday. They got a lot done. We have a lot of mums that were cleaned out if you want some. They planted another blueberry plant and cleared out around the sign in the front yard. Thanks Lancaster.

  • Suwanee River Garden Club to host discussion on bees

    The next meeting of the Suwannee River Garden Club is Monday, March 28, at 7 p.m.  The club meets in the church building directly behind the Cadillac Motel in Fanning Springs.
    Wayne (Chappie) McChesney, bee keeper will be the keynote speaker. McChesney raises honey bees and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with the club.

  • Log Cabin Quilters: March 17

    The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday March 10, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  We have so many busy days now and many quilters getting away from the snow and cold.  We had a great rain and now it’s a little cool, but the sun comes out and all is well in our world.
    We do have a prayer list for Pat, Laura and Peggy; yet we know our Lord takes care of everything.

  • Birth

    Addyson Faith Frye was born on Jan. 27, 2011,  at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Addyson weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and was 21 inches in length at birth. Her parents are Bryant and Lela Frye of Bell. Her siblings are Ryan, 22, Ethan, 6, and  Jordan, 12. The maternal grandparents are Jack and Darleen Meeks of Chiefland. The paternal grandmother is Peggy Frye of Branford.

    The Log Cabin Quilters met Thursday, March 4, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  What a great day we had with so much going on.  We had fabric and books that had been brought in which was shared with everyone.
    B. J. was back with her two granddaughters.  She is busy teaching them how to use fabric.   They are willing to learn.  She is a good teacher.

  • One-man committee drums up new volunteers for Haven Hospice

    Arnold Dittenber is a Haven Hospice ambassador, recruiter and one-man welcoming committee. Whether he’s out in the community drumming up new volunteers for Haven or greeting veterans at a Veterans Day breakfast, he makes everyone around him feel appreciated.
     A retired hardware store owner who moved to Florida from Michigan, this longtime Haven volunteer lost his wife Shirley Lanier after a 2-1/2 year battle with cancer.  She was his partner in life and in volunteering at Haven. She died the night before their 11th anniversary last year.
