  • News from the military

    Army Pvt. Nicholas S. Dickason has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.

    During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship qualification, bayonet combat, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, marches, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

    He is the son of Steven Dickason of S. U.S. Highway 129, Bell.

    Dickason graduated in 2001 from Bell High School.

  • Homeboys revival scheduled

    Everyone is invited to attend the eighth annual Homeboys Revival. This gospel sharing and honoring God revival will begin Monday, June 22, and conclude on Friday, June 26. Service will convene at 7:30 p.m. each night.

    Monday night, New Jerusalem Church of Chiefland; Speaker, Evangelist Robert Scott.

    Tuesday night, St. John Missionary Baptist, Bronson; Speaker, Min. Phillip Henderson.

    Wednesday night, Mt. Pleasant Baptist, Chiefland; Speaker, Edward Nelson.

    Thursday night, Mt. Bethel United Methodist, Chiefland; Speaker, Pastor Joseph.

  • Tindale, Sache announce engagement

    Jeff and Renee Tindale announce the engagement of their daughter Amber Renee Tindale to Seth Eugene Sache, son of Wes and Debi Sache.

    The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Chiefland High School and is purrsuing a degree in radiography at Santa Fe College.

    The future groom is a 2007 graduate of Chiefland High School and is pursuing a business degree at Lake City Community College.

    The couple plan to wed after the completion of their college degrees.

  • Miss Jenkins, Mr. Parrish to marry

    Steve and Sherrie Jenkins announce the engagement of their daughter, Lynsey Edrin Jenkins, to John Cleveland Parrish, son of Johnny and Audrey Parrish.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of H.F. and Wanda Jones of Old Town, the late Martha Jane Jones, Albert and Martha Cassidy of Cross City and the Late Ray L. Jenkins.

    The groom-elect is the grandson of Ms. Maxine Parrish of Trenton, the late Mr. Eudell Parrish, Sleatha Gore of Chiefland and the late Mr. Cleveland Gore.

    An Oct. 24 wedding is being planned at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Chiefland.

  • Reception will honor Rogers

    A reception for Doris Rogers is planned for Sunday, July 20 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church of Chiefland.

    She came to Chiefland in 1954 with her husband Lindsey and her two children, Carolyn Langford and Earl Rogers. She will soon be leaving the area.

    During the 54 years she was a part of the community, she served a term as a city commissioner and was a member of the Planning Commission for some 27 years.

  • Miss Ruth to wed Mr. Alford

    Mr. and Mrs. Joe P. Ruth of Old Town announce the engagement of their daughter, Alicia Blanche to Cecil "Edward" Alford Jr. of Chiefland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Alford of Cedar Key.

    The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Dixie County High School and is a registered nurse. She is employed by the Orthopaedic Surgery Center in Gainesville.

    The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Cedar Key High School and is employed by Central Florida Electric Co-op in Chiefland.

    A summer wedding is being planned.

    Garrett

    Amanda and Shane Garrett of Trenton announce the birth of a son Zackery Adma Garrett, born March 4, 2008.

    The baby weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces.

    Grandparents are Angie and the late Clinton Garrett of Fanning Springs, Shirley and Bobby Stickle of Trenton and Suzie and Mike Johnson of South Carolina.

    The baby has an older brother Dalton.

    Gulledge

    Tasha and John Gulledge of Chiefland announce the birth of a son Payton Allan Gulledge, born Dec. 19, 2007 at North Florida Regional.

    The baby weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

    Danny Jo Jenkins and Trina Jenkins announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Danielle LaShane Jenkins to Milford Gordon (M.G) Ridgeway, son of Doyle and Diane Ridgeway on Saturday, April 5 at four o'clock in the afternoon at the Woodmen of the World, State Road 26 in Trenton.

    Mr. and Mrs. James Burkett of Trenton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Meghan Adayr Burkett of Chiefland to Jay Bolton of Chiefland.

    The bride-elect graduated from Trenton High School and attended Central Florida Community College. She is employed by Fernwood Flowers and Gifts.

    The future groom graduated from Bronson High School and Central Florida Community College (Ocala) where he received a degree in law enforcement. He is employed with the Chiefland Police Department as a K-9 officer.

  • Hodges, Jenkins plan nuptials

    Mr. and Mrs. Hal Hodges of Cedar Key announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Gini Lynn Hodges of Savannah, Ga. to Gregory Ross Jenkins II of Savannah, Ga., son of the late Col. and Mrs. Gregory Ross Jenkins Sr.

    The bride-elect is a graduate of Cedar Key High School and the University of Florida where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

    She is employed by the Herndon Law Firm, P.C.
