  • Draw the line clearly with temptation

The cold weather was late getting here this year. Unseasonable warm weather was an understatement for December and early January has provided a long runway for the winter that is now in flight. This week stands to be the coldest of the season but I’m already thinking I’m only seven weeks away from March. I still find myself saying “I wish spring would hurry and get here,” but the older I get the less likely I am to wish my days away. It’s been an odd deer season. I could write a book on patience.

  • An Old Geezer Faces Another New Year

Here we go again, tricked into thinking it is a New Year when there is absolutely nothing new about it. It is the same ole, same ole, Déjà vu all over again. The person who invented this "New Year" ought to be sued for defamation of characterization.

I suppose everybody has their own definition of "new," but when I think of new I think of something that has not been before not the recycling of something old.

  • Lighthouse youth save Christmas for Another Way!

Way to go Youth from the Lighthouse Word Church! They found out that Another Way, our local women’s abuse shelter would have a record number of children there this year for Christmas. So they challenged the congregation to bring in gifts for the children. They did and the youth wrapped them and delivered them. What a blessing!
