  • Ceday Key Spring Arts Festival

       The festival will be held this year on April 24 and 25.

       During the next month, the OFCA Committee will be reaching out to local groups and individuals to solicit volunteers. There are a wide variety of ways to help with this event including setup/take down, being a block captain, and/or assisting at the artist’s reception in the CKAC sculpture garden Saturday evening.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or have an in-kind donation to contribute, please contact Mandy Cassiano at cedarkeyarts@bellsouth.net or 543-5400.

    Improve your driving

    The new, one-day AARP Driver Safety Course takes only six hours and replaces the old two-day course.

    The class starts at 9 a.m..at the Bronson Agriculture Office, 625 North Hathaway, Bronson. For information or to register, call  Linda Cochran at (352) 493-1742

    Mature drivers can earn a discount on auto insurance for completing the course. The course fee is $14 for non members and $12 for AARP members.

  • Levy County Fair planned for April

    The Springtime Levy County Fair will take place between April 8 and 11 this year at the Williston Airport Industrial Park, located across from the Williston Horseman’s Park.

    Upcoming country music star Kenyon Lockry, presented by Mel Tillis Enterprises, will be performing on the main stage Friday, April 9.  McKinley and Beggs Band will be performing on the main stage the following night.  A battle-of-the-bands contest will take place throughout the dates of the fair, as well as the featuring of Miss Levy County Fair and Little Miss Levy County Fair.

    Vet museum

    All World War II veterans are welcome to join the celebration at 11:30 a.m. at the U. S. Victory Museum in Archer. O’s So Sweet of Williston will cater the event.

    The museum is located within the historic 1890 Archer City Hall, dedicated to the sailors, soldiers and airmen who served and defended our great country.

    “The Big Bend Saltwater Paddling Trail: Make it work for you” workshop will be held at the Steinhatchee Community Center on Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    Join Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Office of Recreation Services to explore how your business can be attractive to visitors seeking adventure on the Big Bend Saltwater Paddling Trail and exploring the beauty of the area’s natural features.

  • Basic pistol class raises funds for slain Dixie deputy's family

    A basic pistol class, hosted By Levy County Sheriffs Office, that can qualify an individual for Florida Concealed weapons permit will be held Feb. 6 at 8 a.m. at the Levy County Sheriffs Office Classroom, 9150 N.E. 80th Ave., Bronson.

    The cost is $65 with proceeds benefitting the family of slain Dixie County Sheriff's Capt. Chad Reed. Reed was killed in the line of duty last week leaving behind a wife and two children.
