    The VFW Post No. 5625, 1104 S. Main St., Chiefland, is hosting Friday Night Dinners from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    On the menu is baked ziti, salad, garlic bread and dessert.

  • Clean out garage with music park sale

    Garage sale lovers, it’s your time of the year to have a little garage sale fun at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park (SOSMP) in Live Oak. The annual fall garage sale is set for Aug. 7 from 8 a .m. until it’s all gone.

    Gates are open to shoppers at 8 a.m. and  admission is free for shoppers until noon.

  • UMC Chiefland has new pastor

       The Rev. Terry Wines is the new senior pastor for the First United Methodist Church of Chiefland, moving over from Shingle Creek United Methodist Church in Kissimmee. Wines was at Shingle Creek for six years.

       Wines, and his wife, Amelia, will be taking over while Pastor Bill Knight is on sabbatical and his wife, Terry Knight, moves to serve Ellzey United Methodist Church.

    On the menu are spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and dessert. The menu for July 30 will be baked ziti, salad, garlic bread and dessert.

    The club also serves sandwiches every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    Help decode the mystery of life

       Bronson Road Church Vacation Bible School (VBS), begins Sunday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. with the theme "The Egypt File: Decoding the Mystery of Life. "

       Pre-K through 8th grade students are welcome to join this fabulous week in old Egypt, which will include a full supper, fun crafts, indoor/outdoor recreation and exploration in a Dig Pit. 

       VBS will continue each evening through Friday, when parents are invited to join in a Phantastic Phun Closing Program.
