  • Manatee Springs to host Manatee Awareness Month events

    The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Manatee Springs State Park will host a variety of featured guests throughout the month of January.
    January is known as Manatee Awareness Month. With the cooler weather, the featured guests will be the manatees, along with partners in manatee protection awareness, education and enforcement.

    The Potter's House is holding free tutoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pastor Minnie Hayes is the tutor.

    Toastmasters and Gavel Club Meeting will be held Sunday, Jan. 2, at 4 p.m. in the Cedar Key Library upstairs Meeting Room.

  • Cedar Key Boat Parade Dec. 11

    Cedar Key is holding a boat parade on Saturday, Dec. 11, with a rain date on Sunday, Dec. 12.

    Boats will line up in the Gulf in front of the Beach Front Motel around dusk.

    Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated boats.

    Dixie Music Center presents "An Old Town Christmas," Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m.

    There will be a Christmas recital, "The Real Gift," presented by D&D Studios at the Chiefland High School Auditorium at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec 10. Admission is a new toy to be donated to a local charity. Children 12 and under get in for free.

    6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

    SVP presents 2nd Annual Haunted Theater

    Suwannee Valley Players proudly presents its 2nd Annual Haunted Theater, "All Things Scary," today through Saturday.

    Each room has been designed to bring the spectator a different thrill with monsters, vampires, spiders, clowns, zombies and more. If it's scary, it's at the Chief Theater. 

  • Alligator Warrior Festival

    A festival and re-enactment celebrating the history of Alligator Warrior, who lead Seminole warriors in the 2nd Seminole War (1835-1842) and of the settlement of Alligator which was renamed Lake City in 1859 will be held Oct. 29-31. The festival is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at O'Leno State Park, 410 S.E. Oleno Park Road, High Springs.
