    The official City of Chiefland trick-or-treating is Saturday Oct. 30, between 

    6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

    SVP presents 2nd Annual Haunted Theater

    Suwannee Valley Players proudly presents its 2nd Annual Haunted Theater, "All Things Scary," today through Saturday.

    Each room has been designed to bring the spectator a different thrill with monsters, vampires, spiders, clowns, zombies and more. If it's scary, it's at the Chief Theater. 

  • Alligator Warrior Festival

    A festival and re-enactment celebrating the history of Alligator Warrior, who lead Seminole warriors in the 2nd Seminole War (1835-1842) and of the settlement of Alligator which was renamed Lake City in 1859 will be held Oct. 29-31. The festival is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at O'Leno State Park, 410 S.E. Oleno Park Road, High Springs.

  • Learn how bats can battle mosquitoes

    Remember this summer's mosquito infestation?  How about the hatching after the heavy rains and flooding in September?
    Learn how to battle the blodsucking invasion at two presentations on creating havens for bats.
       Ranger Pam Darty of the U.S. Fish Service at Lower Suwannee Wildlife Refuge will give a  presentation on Florida Bats and Bat Houses at the Ellie Schiller Education Center in the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve (WGP) at 1001 Old Rock Road, Yankeetown, Friday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m..  Admission is free.

    Levy County Fair Association meeting
    The Levy County Fair Association will hold it's regular monthly meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting is held at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, 1045 NE 6th Blvd., Williston.  Anyone interested in having a voice in, or being a part of next year's Fair is encouraged to attend.  Meetings are open to the public and your participation is needed to make our next Levy County Fair the best ever.  Call 538-1788 for more information.

  • Library's young patrons to decorate pumpkins

     This month each branch of the Levy County Public Library System will have real mini pumpkins for kids of all ages to decorate. Each child will be able to use stickers to decorate one pumpkin to take home. Join in on this fun Halloween Craft. Large groups are welcome, but please contact your local library in advance. 

  • Store to Celebrate 19 Years

     Dixie Music Center will celebrate their 19th anniversary in business with their annual music festival. This will be the Old Town’s store’s 10th such event in as many years. The Saturday, Oct. 9, show is free and is open to the public.
