    Boiled dinner at St. John the Evangelist
    A traditional boiled St. Patrick’s Day dinner is on the menu at St. John the Evangelist Church in Chiefland, 4050 N.W. Highway 27A, going towards Bronson. The dinner — corned beef, cabbage, Irish potatoes, carrots, dessert and beverage — is served 5-7 p.m.  for $5 for children and $7 for adults. For information, call 352-493-9723.
    Proceeds benefit the St. Vincent De Paul food closet. A donation of non-perishable food items is appreciated.

  • Free evening of Bluegrass

    A free evening of Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music with Big Cypress Bluegrass and other bands at 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 5, will be hosted by the Dixie County Historical Society .
    The performance is at the Old Town Elementary School Auditorium, on State Road 349 and County Road 55A.
     

  • Bronson Blue Springs open for spring break

    Bronson Blue Springs will be opened for spring break from March 12-20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is still $1, though children under 5 are free.
    There’s no lifeguard on duty, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

    Legion Valentine's dinner, dance
    American Legion Auxiliary 383 hosts a Valentine's Dinner and Dance from 2-6 p.m. A ham dinner will be served for a $5 donation. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, music, dancing, and more.

  • Florida State Fair open for fun

    The Florida State Fair’s theme this year is “The Best Time of the Year.” The fair, at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, runs through Feb. 21. The 2011 Florida State Fair has 106 rides for guests to enjoy. There will be fan favorites such as the Giant Wheel and Hydro Shock along with new choices for both kiddies and thrill seekers.

    n Senior Days Feb. 15-17 — $6 gate admission for ages 55 and over. Free gate admission for seniors on Feb. 17 after 4 p.m.
