• May Day Extravaganza on May 26

       The 29th Annual May Day Extravaganza, sponsored by the Chiefland Men's Club, will be Saturday, May 26, from noon to 6 p.m. at Buie Park.
       The event promises fun for the whole family. Children should bring their swim suits to play in the water games.

  • 20th annual car show at Ayers center

       The Early Ford V-8 Club of America Suwannee River Region No. 140 will celebrate its 20th anniversary  of sponsoring the Annual Antique Car Show at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
       The show is for cars from 1987 and earlier. Dash plaques, Best of Show and People's Choice awards to the Top 20 cars will be awarded. Judging will be by participants in the show.  The registration fee to show a car is $15 per vehicle.
    All proceeds will be donated to charity and admission to the event is free.

  • Suwannee River Garden Club

       It is time to start planning for the 2012-2013 club year.  New officers will be elected at the next meeting of the Suwannee River Garden Club on Monday, April 30.  The club is made up of members from Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy Counties. They meet in the Fanning Springs Community Center located behind the Catallic Motel at 7 p.m.

    The Chiefland Ministerial Association is sponsoring a city wide Community Service on Sunday, April 29, at 6 p.m. at the Chiefland Assembly of God on Manatee Springs Road.  Everyone is invited.

    AARP driving course in Cross City
    Cross City Rehabilitation is sponsoring an AARP Safe Driving Course from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Insurance companies must give a discount to those completing an AARP Safe Driving Course. 
    This course is open to all people age 50 and older. The fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.  Cross City Rehabilitation is providing lunch, snacks and beverage.

    Haven Hospice is hosting A Love & Remembrance Memorial: A Time to Heal: A Community Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. This is a service provided at no charge to anyone in the community who has lost someone.        Spring is here and books are popping up on tables at the Bronson public library just waiting for you to purchase. Come to the Bronson Library on Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
       Hardback books are 50 cents each and paperbacks are 10 cents each.

  • Cycle for Education April 21

       Cycle for Education is a fun way to help raise money to benefit students in the classroom for the Levy County Schools Foundation.
       The leisure ride follows the Greenway Trail. It begins at the Chiefland Shopping Center at 8 a.m. and continues past the Suwannee River through Fanning Springs, on to Cross City or as far as you want. The ride is up to 48 miles long, but riders can ride as little as they wish or go beyond the designated trail.
