    n The Bronson Church of God will be holding its 3rd Annual Bar-B-Que Cook-Off on April 24, 8 a.m. There will be a $20 per entry fee. The meat will be supplied. Whole Boston butts will be for sale for $20. April 21 is the deadline to purchase a whole Boston butt.      The April meeting of World War II veterans will be held at 10 a.m. at Branford High School in Branford. Veterans will visit classes and speak to the students, answer their questions. The Veterans will also be honored in a program prepared by the students.

  • Looking for a home

    This little cutie is Cuddles, a rescued 2-year-old, male poodle, who is looking for a forever home.  He is full of love and play and gets along well with children and dogs.     Volunteer to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the court system.  In Levy County, there are about 80 children in the child welfare system.  Help ensure these children are heard and not forgotten.      Love and Remembrance Memorial

    Haven Hospice’s Love and Remembrance Memorial is at 6 p.m. at Haven Hospice Tri-Counties Care Center Garden, 311 NE 9th St., Chiefland.

    The services are open to anyone who has lost a loved one. Attendees are encouraged to bring pictures and mementos of loved ones that can be placed on our Table of Memories. Refreshments will be served. Registration is not required.

       Be a powerful voice in a child’s life.  Advocate in the court system for children who have been taken away for neglect and abuse.

  • American Legion Auxiliary 383 Easter dinner for veterans

     The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 383, Old Town, is having an Easter Dinner – ham and all fixings – on Sunday, April 4, from 12:30  p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  A nominal donation of $5.00 is asked. 

      This dinner is for American Legion,  Sons of the American Legion and Auxiliary  members, their families and guests.  Not everyone has someone – so don’t be alone – come spend the afternoon with us and have a good meal was well!

    Spooky movie at Chiefland library

    Join the Levy County library System for a movie about werewolves and sparkly vampires at 5 p.m. at Luther Callaway Public Library, and at 5 p.m. March 29 at the Bronson Public Library..

    The 2009 movie based on a Stephenie Meyer book will be shown. It has a running time of two hours, 10 minutes.

    It is rated PG-13 for some violence and action.

       Spring is here and the garden soon will be producing tons of vegetables and fruits, or  perhaps you are planning to take advantage of farmer’s markets, road-side stands or you-pick operations to buy a large amount of food to put away for later in the year.
