       Suwannee Valley Players will hold auditions for its fall production of “Cry of  the Banshee” on July 14 at 10 a.m. and July 17 at 7 p.m. All auditions are held at the Chief Theater. This will be a cold read for the directors.

    Celebrate the 4th again
    Horseshoe Beach's 2nd annual community fireworks will be held with family activities, fresh seafood, great barbecue, food vendors and more.
    It will be at Fireworks Island, across the road from the Horseshoe Beach Cafe.
    The show is managed by Dennis Buckley, Don Cherry, John Cherry and Panama Paul. Vendors can set up for free.

    Williston July 4th parade deadline
    The deadline for registration is at noon for the Williston Independence Day parade that will be on July 3 at 5 p.m.
    This year's parade theme is "Made in America."
    To be in the parade or for more information  call Cyndie McQuaig at 352-528-3060 (City Hall).
    The parade will be followed by a celebration at Horseman's Park beginning at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in having a booth should contact Mary Kline at the Chamber of Commerce at 352-528-5552.


  • Let the summer celebration begin

    The Kidzone Children’s Ministry at Lighthouse Word Church kicked off its Celebration Summer program. The events include music, drama, dance on Sunday, June 10.
    There were two bounce houses, train rides, face painting, popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones.
    Each Sunday at 10:30 am throughout the summer will be packed with fun and rewards for those who bring their friends. All children from kindergarten through 5th grade are invited, and classes for toddlers and babies are also provided.

    The adventure begins for pre-K through fifth grade children with vacation bible school Sunday-Thursday, June 24-28, from 5:15 to 8:30 nightly at Hardeetown Baptist Church. Dinner is included in the program.

  • Patriotic service Sunday at Lighthouse Word Church

    Lighthouse Word Church is hosting a Patriotic Service on Sunday, July 1, at 10:30 am, in honor of our independence as a nation.  
    Special guests include keynote speaker Chiefland Police Chief Robert Douglas, State Attorney Bill Cervone, 8th Judicial Circuit Judge David Glant, Levy County Judge James T. “Tim” Browning and many other city and county officials.  
    Patriotic music and voter registration will also be featured at the service.
    The public is invited to join in the celebration.

  • Ham radio operators hold annual field day this weekend

    Amateur radio operators, known as hams, from the Tri-County area will be gathering for their annual Field Day on Saturday and Sunday, June 23-24.

  • LARC vs political candidates Saturday

       You see their names all over Levy County, but do you know the faces of the many people who are running for political office? The Levy Association for Retarded Citizens has planned a showcase for the candidates to introduce themselves at an invitational softball challenge.
       The LARC softball team has invited all candidates running for political office to a face-off two-inning softball game. A second game will be played by two teams made up of political candidates picked at random to play against each other in a three-inning face off.

  • Group kayak and picnic

       The Friends of the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges will hold a Group Paddle and Picnic in Cedar Key. All are welcome. Bring your own kayak or rent one in town. Bring a lunch and we will gather after the paddle at the Cedar Key Park to eat together.
