    Wildflower walks at
    Morningside Nature Center
    The Jean Dorney Memorial Wildflower Walks start at 9 a.m. at Morningside Nature Center. On Oct. 8, the walk starts at 11:30 a.m., as part of the Native Plant Sale, please meet at the Pavilion.
    The walks are guided by a Morningside Nature Center staff member. Each week, the walks will be different in focus.
    Please meet at the Education Office and wear comfortable walking shoes. It is also suggested to bring any guide that may be of use on the walk.

    Shrine Club breakfast
    The Suwannee River Shrine Club will hold its monthly country breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. at the clubhouse on State Road 26, about a half-mile north of Fanning Springs.
    The menu includes sausage, eggs, bacon, biscuits, sausage gravy, grits, pancakes and coffee for $6 per person. Eat in or take out. Everyone welcome.

     The Suwannee Valley Players present the comedy thriller “Murder of Scarecrows” at the Chief Theater, 25 E. Park Ave., Chiefland.   • Beast Feast in Bronson

     The Levy County Schools Foundation will host its 2nd Annual Beast Feast on Oct. 8 at the Black Prong Equestrian Center on CR 337, Bronson. Dinner will begin at 5:30 pm. 

  • Naturalist program offered

     A few spots still remain for the Florida Master Naturalist Program Upland Habitats Module. The six-week course will be on Thursday from Sept. 22 to Oct. 27 at the Levy County Extension Office, 625 N. Hathaway Ave. (Alt. 27), Bronson.

    There will be a Title I meeting at Chiefland Middle School today from 5 to 6 p.m. An open house will be from 6 - 7 p.m. for all parents to come and meet faculty and staff. The school's media center is also hosting a book fair during that time.

    Hoggetowne Medieval Faire
    auditions
    Actors, singers, dancers and stage combatants are needed for the 2012 Hoggetowne Medieval Faire Living Chessboard and cast of characters.  Auditions are 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. in the Hippodrome Theater Cinema. Stage combat training will be provided for those interested. The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire will be  at the Alachua County Fairgrounds on Jan. 28-29 & Feb. 3-5, 2012.
