    Today

    Love and Remembrance Memorial
    at Haven Hospice
    Haven Hospice will host a Fall Love and Remembrance Memorial service at the Tri-Counties Hospice Care Center Garden, 311 N.E. 9th St., Chiefland.  The memorial will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to anyone in the community who has lost a loved one.
    Attendees are encouraged to bring pictures and mementos of loved ones that can be placed on our Table of Memories.

  • Learn about Florida history

       Professor Jack E. Davis will offer a brief survey of Florida history from the pre-Spanish
    Period to the present through the lens of the human relationship with the natural environment.
       Davis has a B.A. in political science, an M.A. and PH.D. in American History. He is an associate professor of history at the University of Florida, where he specializes in environmental, southern and Florida History. He serves on the editorial boards at Tampa Bay History and the Florida Historical Quarterly.

    Morningside Nature Center
    The Jean Dorney Memorial Wildflower Walks start at 9 a.m. at Morningside Nature Center. On Oct. 8, the walk starts at 11:30 a.m., as part of the Native Plant Sale, please meet at the Pavilion.
    The walks are guided by a Morningside Nature Center staff member. Each week, the walks will be different in focus.
    Please meet at the Education Office and wear comfortable walking shoes. It is also suggested to bring any guide that may be of use on the walk.

    Shrine Club breakfast
    The Suwannee River Shrine Club will hold its monthly country breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. at the clubhouse on State Road 26, about a half-mile north of Fanning Springs.
    The menu includes sausage, eggs, bacon, biscuits, sausage gravy, grits, pancakes and coffee for $6 per person. Eat in or take out. Everyone welcome.

  • 'Murder of Scarecrows' at Chief

     The Suwannee Valley Players present the comedy thriller “Murder of Scarecrows” at the Chief Theater, 25 E. Park Ave., Chiefland.
