VFW dinner

The VFW Post No. 5625, 1104 S. Main St., Chiefland, is hosting Friday Night Dinners from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On the menu are spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and dessert. The menu for July 30 will be baked ziti, salad, garlic bread and dessert.

The club also serves sandwiches every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Help decode the mystery of life

   Bronson Road Church Vacation Bible School (VBS), begins Sunday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. with the theme "The Egypt File: Decoding the Mystery of Life. "

   Pre-K through 8th grade students are welcome to join this fabulous week in old Egypt, which will include a full supper, fun crafts, indoor/outdoor recreation and exploration in a Dig Pit. 

   VBS will continue each evening through Friday, when parents are invited to join in a Phantastic Phun Closing Program. 

Step out of your shell and into some fun at the Great American Cooter Festival in the historic city of Inverness. There will be crafts, fine art, entertainment, children’s activities, contests, pageants, Cooter (turtle) races, barbecue cook-off contest and much more.

Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge invites you to an openhouse on Seahorse Key Saturday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Enhance your summer by getting the family outdoors into the spectacular Cedar Keys. Bring your camera, fish a little, walk along the beach and enjoy the exhibits.
