  • Free admission to hoops tourney

     Action begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the public to see past and present top basketball players from around the region during a 3-on-3 tournament and 3-point shootout at Chiefland High School's gymnasium. Concessions will be open with hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, candy and an assortment of drinks, so fans can sit back and enjoy cheering for their favorite teams as they battle for the title.

    4-H Summer Camps
    The Levy County 4-H hosts a variety of camps at the Bronson Agricultural Center this summer. Campers must be at least 8 years old by the date of the camp. The cost is $25 per camp or $50 for ATV camp. Camps are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Camp fee includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, field trips and recreation.

  • National Night Out in Chiefland

       The College of Central Florida, Chiefland Police Department and the Chiefland Chamber of Commerce are looking for businesses and civic organizations to participate in this year's National Night Out on Aug. 2 from 6-8 p.m. on the grounds of the Chiefland Chamber of Commerce. National Night Out brings neighbors together and shows criminals that the community is organized, educate and is taking a stand against crime.

  • 'Pollyanna' final performances this weekend

       Suwannee Valley Players is proud to announce the opening of the Summer Youth Workshop production of Pollyanna, adapted by Susan Pargman, and produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colo. This is the delightful, classic tale of the greatest optimist of all time: Pollyanna. But it's much more than that. It's the story of how a little girl's faith in her father's promise that  good can be found in anything that happens guides her steadfastly through circumstances that most adults would find formidable.

  • Cedar Keys NWR open house

       Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge invites the public to an open house on Seahorse Key  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 9. Bring a camera, fish a little, walk along the beach, and enjoy the young pelicans through the spotting scope.

    Today

    Tourism grant meeting
    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Agricultural Center, 625 N. Hathaway Ave. in Bronson. The meeting is for the 2011-2012 advertising grant application review and recommendations. The meeting is open to the public.

    Tourism task force to meet
    The monthly meeting of the Original Florida Tourism Task Force will take place June 23, at 10 a.m. at the Best Western Inn Plus of Wakulla in Crawfordville.

    of saving lives when they team up to host a blood drive at Walmart on Friday and Saturday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. 
    Or, you can choose to donate at the LifeSouth Donor Center on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or Saturday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.  The donor center is located across the U.S. Highway 19 from Walmart in the Winn-Dixie Shopping Center, 2201 N. Young Boulevard.
