    Easter egg hunt
    Pine Grove Baptist Church's Annual Easter Egg Hunt is from 10:30 a.m. to noon for ages 1 through 12. There will be prize eggs, a bicycle giveaway, an Easter basket giveaway, Easter story time and a hot lunch provided.

    Butterfly walk in refuge
    There will be a butterfly walk beginning at 9:15 a.m. Starting from the south entrance to the Nature Loop Road in the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge.

  • Library friends to meet

    The Friends of the Luther Callaway Public Library (FLCPL) Board of Directors, will hold its monthly meeting at the library, 104 NE 3rd Street, Chiefland (a block behind City Hall), at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12.  The Luther Callaway Public Library is the Chiefland Branch of the Levy County Public Library System.     “The Thorn Easter Experience” at Lighthouse
       This year at Lighthouse Word Church the greatest story ever told comes to life with “The Thorn Easter Experience.” Through realistic videos, live dramas and beautiful music, attendees will experience the power and compassion of Jesus’ life, the pain of his crucifixion, and the triumph of his resurrection.  The Service will be held Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Lighthouse Word Church.

  • CK Arts Center issues call for festival patrons

    The 48th Spring Arts Festival will be Saturday and Sunday, April  28-29, and the Cedar Key Arts Center is seeking individuals who want to support the festival by becoming a Purchase Award Patron.  It's fun, supports the artists, the festival, and this year, there's a money back guarantee.

    Tourist board meets
    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will have its bi-monthly meeting Thursday, March 29, at 6 p.m. at the  Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson. The meeting is open to the public.

    Tax help
    There will be a free tax preparation and e-file with AARP Tax Aide at Luther Callaway Public Library in Chiefland. Volunteers will be at the library between noon and 4 p.m.

  • Butterfly Walks in April

    Two butterfly walks will occur on the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge in April. On Monday, meet at 10 a.m. at the entrance to Barnett Creek Road, toward the south end of Nature Loop Road off Rte 347. Walk leaders are Donna and John Thalacker, of the Friends of the Refuges. On Saturday, April 7, meet right at the south entrance to the Nature Loop Road at 9:15 a.m. Walk leader is Barbara Woodmansee, of the North American Butterfly Association.

  • Bluegrass evenings in Dixie

    The free evenings of bluegrass at the Old Town Elementary School Auditorium started two years ago when Big Cypress Bluegrass Band approached the Dixie County Historical Society and proposed the idea of a free evening of Bluegrass music in order to promote Bluegrass and also to give back to the community for supporting the band through the years.
    The Historical Society was very gracious in allowing the group the chance to show what it  could do if given the chance. The partnership brings entertainment to all who love traditional Bluegrass/Bluegrass Gospel music.

  • Democrats meet Tuesday in Bronson

    The Levy County Democratic Committee will meet at the Bronson Restaurant on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
    Anyone interested in the Democratic Party, discussing the upcoming elections or just interested in getting involved in the Democratic Party is welcome to come to the meeting and join.
       The committee is seeking people that are interested in the party and interested in fairness in the political system.
       A dinner menu will be available for purchase.

  • State park to host Earth Day scavenger hunt

    The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Fanning and Manatee Springs state parks and Nature Coast State Trail will host a Scavenger hunt throughout the park for Earth Day.
       Park Ranger Howard Meyer will read a book by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings called The Secret River before the hunt begins. The reading will take place on the stage located in the park from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from there the hunt will begin. There will be prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place participants and everyone will receive a certificate of participation.

    HCE, Woodmen hold yard sale
    The HCE Chiefland Club will hold a joint yard sale with the Woodmen Lodge of Trenton from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on State Road 26 in Trenton. The Woodmen Lodge will sell hotdogs and drinks.
