    memorial ceremony
    Haven Hospice is hosting A Love & Remembrance Memorial: A Time to Heal: A Community Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. This is a service provided at no charge to anyone in the community who has lost someone. It will be held in the Tri-Counties Care Center courtyard, 311 N.E. 9th St., Chiefland. For more information, call 800-677-5428.

  • Friends of the Bronson Library Book Sale

       Spring is here and books are popping up on tables at the Bronson public library just waiting for you to purchase. Come to the Bronson Library on Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
       Hardback books are 50 cents each and paperbacks are 10 cents each.
       If you are interested in donating books for our sale, please either come by during business
    hours or call 352-486-2015 for more information.

  • Cycle for Education April 21

       Cycle for Education is a fun way to help raise money to benefit students in the classroom for the Levy County Schools Foundation.
       The leisure ride follows the Greenway Trail. It begins at the Chiefland Shopping Center at 8 a.m. and continues past the Suwannee River through Fanning Springs, on to Cross City or as far as you want. The ride is up to 48 miles long, but riders can ride as little as they wish or go beyond the designated trail.

  • Rubio's staff coming to help

    If you are having an issue with Social Security, Medicare, Veterans Benefits, immigration, the IRS or any federal agency, a member of Senator Rubio’s staff will be available to meet with you. Please plan to attend to meet your local staff and find out the services Senator Rubio’s Office offers his constituents. Tuesday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties Care Center, 311 N.E. 9th St., Chiefland.

    These programs use books and music to present the young children with the concept that books, reading, and libraries are fun and enjoyed at all ages.  These programs last 30 minutes.

    Easter egg hunt
    Pine Grove Baptist Church's Annual Easter Egg Hunt is from 10:30 a.m. to noon for ages 1 through 12. There will be prize eggs, a bicycle giveaway, an Easter basket giveaway, Easter story time and a hot lunch provided.

    Butterfly walk in refuge
    There will be a butterfly walk beginning at 9:15 a.m. Starting from the south entrance to the Nature Loop Road in the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge.

  • Library friends to meet

    The Friends of the Luther Callaway Public Library (FLCPL) Board of Directors, will hold its monthly meeting at the library, 104 NE 3rd Street, Chiefland (a block behind City Hall), at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12.  The Luther Callaway Public Library is the Chiefland Branch of the Levy County Public Library System.     “The Thorn Easter Experience” at Lighthouse
       This year at Lighthouse Word Church the greatest story ever told comes to life with “The Thorn Easter Experience.” Through realistic videos, live dramas and beautiful music, attendees will experience the power and compassion of Jesus’ life, the pain of his crucifixion, and the triumph of his resurrection.  The Service will be held Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Lighthouse Word Church.

    The 48th Spring Arts Festival will be Saturday and Sunday, April  28-29, and the Cedar Key Arts Center is seeking individuals who want to support the festival by becoming a Purchase Award Patron.  It's fun, supports the artists, the festival, and this year, there's a money back guarantee.

    The Levy County Tourist Development Council will have its bi-monthly meeting Thursday, March 29, at 6 p.m. at the  Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson. The meeting is open to the public.

    Tax help
    There will be a free tax preparation and e-file with AARP Tax Aide at Luther Callaway Public Library in Chiefland. Volunteers will be at the library between noon and 4 p.m.
