    The Levy County Historical Society invites the young, young at heart, and all history enthusiasts to join them for a free excursion into the Golden Age of Transportation through an exhibit entitled “Railroads & Riverboats,” Sept. 26 - 28, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Cedar Key Community Center.

  • Luke Corbitt Memorial Fishing Tournament in October

    The 3rd annual Luke Corbitt memorial fishing tournament benefiting the Children's Table will be held Oct. 4, at the Waccasassa Boat Ramp in Gulf Hammock.

    Registration is $25 and starts at 6 a.m. the day of the event at the boat ramp. For advanced registration, call 352-278-3379.

    There will be cash prizes for biggest red, biggest trout, biggest combo and most unique fish caught. There will also be free food and door prizes.

  • Volunteer cleanups for National Public Lands Day

    1) Friday Sept. 26, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Help clean up and restore the Nature Coast State Trail at the Suwannee River trestle. Join park staff to pick up trash and debris left from the summer’s activities. A barbecue lunch, trash bags, gloves and water will be provided, along with free admission to the park. Meet at Fanning Springs State Park, at the concessionaire building at 9:30 a.m. for registration.

  • Calling all artists

    Haven Hospice is inviting artists to connect with patients and families while supporting Haven by displaying their art work through the ArtsCare Program.

       Artists' applications will be accepted throughout the year. To be considered, the artists must complete an exhibiting application and return it with a minimum of 10 photos representative of their work. The application can be found at www.havenhospice.org/ArtsCare.
