  • Armchair tour of Levy cemeteries

       The Genealogy and History Society of Levy County will meet on Sunday,
    Feb. 12, at the Levy County Quilt Museum, 11050 NW 10th Avenue, Chiefland.
       Toni Collins, Levy County historian and author, will be the guest speaker, presenting a PowerPoint program on the history of some of the 82 known Levy County family, church, and community cemeteries. Collins also will give a brief history of the persons interred in the cemeteries that will be visited on the armchair tour.

  • February at the Cedar Key Arts Center

    You are going to love all the wonderful activities at the Cedar Key Arts Center during the month of February.
    Gallery show opens on Feb. 4, from 5-7 p.m., with Susan Dauphinee’s Florida Landscapes in the main gallery and Connie Nelson showing in the Member’s Gallery.

A stray rock or piece of driftwood magically transforms into owls or fish. Her carvings and rock paintings have become legend in the area and Joey is willing to work into the night to meet the growing demands of her fans. Barkhouse will have her latest works on display at the Cedar Keyhole for the entire month of January.

  • Butterflies in refuge topic of Feb. 11 talk

    Barbara Woodmansee will give a presentation about the butterflies in the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Key Library.  The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge.

  • Wings and Wheels to fly through Williston

    Get your engines revving for a good cause as the first City of Williston Wings and Wheels fly-in and car show zips into town March 3 as a fund-raiser for the Levy Association of Retarded Citizens (LARC).
    The day starts at the Williston Municipal Airport with a fly in. All pilots who want to show off their aircraft are encouraged to attend, said one of the event  organizers, Dennis Strow.
    If you like having your feet on the ground, bring your classic car and showcase your pride and joy, alongside the aircraft.

  • Chiefland FFA chili cook-off, cake auction Friday

    The Chiefland FFA Alumni are having their 3rd Annual Homemade Chili Cook-Off on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Chiefland High School Ag. Building.  Cost is $15 per entry and this also includes the hot dog/chili meal.
    Check-in time for entrants is 4:45 p.m., with a minimum of one gallon of chili. Prizes will be awarded.  Hot dog/chili meals will be sold to the general public for $5, beginning at 5:30.
