Preserving some of that food for use later in the year will give you great taste and good nutrition and will also make memories for a lifetime.

  • CF hosts Preview Night April 3

    The College of Central Florida invites students, parents and community members to 2014 Preview Night April 3. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd., Chiefland.
    The college will showcase the many career and educational opportunities it offers with exhibits and workshops on dual enrollment, admissions and financial aid, workforce and certificate programs, teacher education opportunities and advanced degrees, including CF’s baccalaureate programs. Visit one or several information sessions.

  • Drugs: Death or Delivery — seminar Saturday, March 29

    A seminar on the abuse and treatment of illegal and prescription drugs will be held at Westside Church of Christ — 816 S.W. 5th St., Chiefland — at 5 p.m., March 29.
    The event is open to the community and will feature speakers Ray Tremblay, of the Chiefland Police Department, Levy County Sheriff Bobby McCallum, Pastor Joseph Wilcox and Biblical counselor Icer Roberts.
    The organizers of the seminar hope it will help bring about positive changes in the community. The seminar will be followed by refreshments and prizes.

    Annie Oakley is the best shot around, and she manages to support her little brother and sisters by selling the game she hunts. When she's discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill, he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show.

  • "Annie Get Your Gun" runs next two weekends

    Show dates are March 21-23 and 28-30. All performances begin at 8 p.m. Friday through Saturday, and Sunday Matinees will begin at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for senior-youth (through 12th grade)-military. Tickets may be purchased in advance from Suwannee Valley Internet in Chiefland and at Point of View in Fanning Springs. Seating may also be reserved through Becky Gill, who can be reached at 352-443-9096.

  • ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ opens this weekend at Chief Theater

    Annie Oakley is the best shot around, and she manages to support her little brother and sisters by selling the game she hunts. When she's discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill, he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show. This classic musical has all the great elements of a delightful live theatre experience with laughs, suspense, romance, and good-natured fun.
