  • Drummond bake sale something to give thanks for

    Please join Haven Hospice on Wednesday, Nov. 26 as Drummond Community Bank holds their annual holiday bake sale starting at 8:30 a.m.

    Purchase delicious cakes, pies and other sweets to add to your Thanksgiving feast.  The baked goods are donations from the community and all purchases made that day will benefit Haven Hospice.

    Drummond Community Bank is at 1627 N. Young Blvd., Chiefland.

    To donate baked goods or for more information, call 352-493-2277.

    All purchases are cash or check only.

  • Aquatic Dream

    The Two Hawk County Circus is this year partnering with the Florida Springs Institute to raise awareness of Florida's aquatic ecosystems.

    The event, which features musical acts, arts and crafts vendors, equestrian performances and the Gainesville Youth Circus, will take place Nov. 22, from 2 - 10 p.m., at the Two Hawk Hammock in Williston — near Devil's Den Spring.

    The annual “Hope Illuminates Candlelight Remembrance . . . To Honor the Memory  of our Loved Ones” will be on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services at 1301 N. Young Blvd., Chiefland.

  • A Man Remembered

    Patrick Smith's "A Land Remembered" is, arguably, a novel all Floridians should have read at some time in their lives.
    The book chronicles the lives of the MacIveys, a pioneering Florida family, just before the Civil War.
    Smith died earlier in the year, but his son, Rick, continues to lecture on the importance of the writings and life of his father.

    The Levy County Schools Foundation will be hosting its 5th Annual Beast Feast on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Etheridge Cracker House- N.E. 140th Ave., Williston.

    "Of Mice and Men," one of John Steinbeck's most acclaimed works, is in production at the Chief Theater in Chiefland with performances Friday through Sunday.
    This American classic chronicles four days in the lives of migrant workers George and Lennie, unlikely friends who move from town to town hoping to work and save enough to own their own piece of land. But Lennie stirs up trouble, and George must choose between his friend and his dream.
