The strength of a community depends on its health, and its health partially depends on an adequate blood supply. Chiefland community invites residents to do their part to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for the community when they team up with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host a blood drive on Friday, May 24. 

The Suwannee Valley Players will hold auditions for the summer youth program at the Chief Theatre starting this weekend. This year, the productions will be Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and Joseph Robinette’s “The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.” Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Chief Theatre, 25 East Park Avenue in Chiefland, FL.    

Barefoot in the Park, a Neil Simon play, opens its two-weekend run on Friday, May 10, at the Chief Theater in Chiefland. The Suwannee Valley Players have a special ticket deal for the Mother’s Day performance on Sunday, May 12, at 2:30 p.m. that includes admission to the play and a full buffet luncheon at The Gathering Table restaurant in Chiefland prior to show. Tickets at $20 each must be purchased in advance from a ticket outlet or by calling 352-493-ARTS.

Beekeepers meeting
The Levy County Beekeepers Club meets the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m., 4 W. Park Ave., Chiefland. Anyone interested in bees or beekeeping is welcome to attend. Experienced beekeepers will be available to answer questions, share ideas, experiences and much more. No need to be a beekeeper to attend, just have an interest in saving the honeybee and other pollinators.
